PaulR
Evening all, am thinking about building an EF-3 complete with Alarm missiles. I have pictures of 11 sqn airframe coded DG complete with Alarms, but was wondering if anyone had/knows where there might be pictures of other EF-3s actually carrying Alarm missiles. The reason I ask is that my stumbling block for this project is decals; I have the right eagle markings, and the squadron bars, but the DG code (black with yellow surround) I don't have. The decal sheet I am going to use is an old Xtradecal sheet, and this has the right style codes for DA, DH and DX; it would be very handy if these tied up to an airframe that actually carried the Alarm missiles. Faint hope but worth a try I thought! Cheers for any help. Paul

Ingo Degenhardt
Were ALARM-carrying F.3s a limited number of special airframes or can I hang ALARMs under any F.3? And if yes, were ALARMs confined for use with certain squadrons? TIA Ingo

I could be wrong though...
SaintsPhil
Spooky I have this very project planned my self! I have the 1/48 airfix EF3 kit (I know it's awful!!) The serial number for the aiframe is VE907. I've done a search on that but as it also wore the red and White zebra markings that's pretty much all the pictures you get! The airfix instructions mention the eagle on the front fuselage is copyright of the BBC from a documentary, maybe worth searching out for reference! It was only 11 Sqn & only a handful of jets were converted, they were going to be used on Op Telic 1 iirc but never did.
Ingo Degenhardt
Thanks for your answers - I think I will leave the ALARMs off the F.3 Tornado. That leaves me with limited options for my two Flightpath Alarm missiles - would any of these have carried them: Jaguar GR.1 or 3, Harrier GR.7/9? Ingo Hi Ingo I'm afraid only Tornados have carried the missile in service, it may have been trialled on the Jag or Harrier. Muzz

AirfixAndy
Serial number of the trials EF3 is or was ZE763 DG , 11 Sqn. Add those Alarms to an Airfix F3 .....you know you want to .....heres one I made earlier ... Andy
Ingo Degenhardt
It sure looks nice with those large missiles under the fuselage, but I've got different decals in minds (No.111) Ingo
Catbird
The EF3 Tornado was featured in a Scale Aircraft Modelling a few years back. Sorry I cant remember exactly when.

Andy No dramas mate, the BOZ should be a gentle taper to a point from just in front of the mounting saddle where Airfix have a almost missile shape. Harrierpilot
I think a No.11 (F) Tornado EF3 turned up at Waddo in 2003 with a pair of ALARMs fitted. I think it was "YI" ex No.111 Sqn.
