AnonymousAA72
The 1/72nd Gnat - only a stereolith -o-thingy prototype but looked really nice.... Tora! Tora! Tora!!!!!! (Sorry didn't get any of the P40B!) And the Lynx - will come in RN, German and Danish markings No pic's of the swordfish though I'm afraid, but we say their video presentation of the CAD (which may be on Youtube, or was that something else?) and it looks rather good - folded wings, aux fuel tanks AND a torpedo trolley!!! (No crew though, as the R&D man said that their standard pilots would not fit!)

Mentalguru
Interesting to see these new models. As an aside, it does seem quite odd that Tamiya have not, of all things, downsized the new mould Zero
-Neu-
Interesting to see these new models. As an aside, it does seem quite odd that Tamiya have not, of all things, downsized the new mould Zero Well I wonder if they want to with the amazing Fine Molds Zero out there... Yes it was a special release but it seems to hang over the market.
mrvr6
hotshots lol were the gnats the original red arrows or did they use something before them?
Arpie
They released the MiG 28 (Tiger II in reality), Tomcat and Skyhawk from Topgun so it would be great to have the Hot Shots Gnat to go with them . The Gnats were the original aircraft of the Red Arrows but Airfix have indicated that at least the initial release will not include a Reds option, not discounted the Yellow Jacks yet however. spike7451
hotshots lolwere the gnats the original red arrows or did they use something before them? Yup,the Red Arrows used the Gnats until they retired & then some of them wound up at RAF Tossford (Cosford) as training airframes or,in the pic below, liney training. rowmk9
I'm quite chuffed to see the A6M2 myself. I think the current choice is either from the far east in an expensive but beautiful form, or something alot older and somewhat lacking. I'll be getting one of Japan's best fighters for sure. AnonymousFO98
Would it be possible to do the Indian Ajeet from the Gnat or is it substantially different?
John Aero
Would it be possible to do the Indian Ajeet from the Gnat or is it substantially different? Totally different. Even the main wheels have a different number of holes. Hidden in the structure there is much commonallity but not in size or shape. John
AnonymousFO98
Thank you John Will scratch that then. from the possible builds list that is, not scratch build an Ajeet.

Max Headroom
Thank you JohnWill scratch that then. from the possible builds list that is, not scratch build an Ajeet. To do an Ajeet you will need the old Aeroclub Gnat F.1 one of their first injection moulded kits (got one and in Finnish marks). Yes the newbie looks lovely. Maybe a double boxing with the Hawk as an 'arrers special? As for variants pre production examples had a shorter nose. Also if you want a film star, some two seaters along with Ajeets in 'Hot Shots'. IIRC they were overall grey with 'THE NAVY' or similar painted on the side. Trevor

Yes, did my ground handling training on them. Instructor told us that the areas you could walk on on the Gnat were clearly marked in red....... Also, I was the only one in my class to get the aircraft to stop on the line.....unfortunately, I was was also the only one where the instructor decided to play silly buggers and ignore my marshalling!!! Brian G
Sweet! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!A new tool Gnat, yesssss! Yes, but that aerial behind the canopy is for the modern flyers only. In Service, the Gnat had a dummy aerial in this position, to give the balance of airflow across the fin and rudder with the real upper aerial further back - just before the fuselage break point, on the left hand side. Apart from that, at first glance, it looks good. Cheers, Brian
thx6667
Yes, but that aerial behind the canopy is for the modern flyers only. As was pointed out, its an SLA not an actual test shot. Edited March 4, 2011 by Jonathan Mock
Work In Progress
Natural Metal / Dayglo Err... High Speed Silver / Dayglo, surely. The only natural metal RAF jets in service were the Lightnings.
Dave Fleming
That'll be 5 Gnats minimum then:-Yellow Jacks Red Arrows Silver / Dayglo Red / White / Grey Raspberry Ripple Thre is also Light Aircraft Grey/Dayglo as some aircraft were re-painted in the period between the changeover from High Speed Silver to Light Aircraft Grey and the introduction of the Training Command Red/White/Grey scheme. I'm sure the RAE Bedford Gnat also had another scheme before it was painted in Raspberry Ripple
Aeronut
Then there's the US Navy scheme from the film Hot Shots.
