Goster Gladiators in Finland

Recommended Posts

Hello!

The short answer is yes. First ones AFAIK in 1941 already (that is early Continuation war), certainly there was some in 1942.

This book might be of interest:

http://www.kolumbus.fi/kari.stenman/sih25.html

You should be able to order the book from the site ( http://www.kolumbus.fi/kari.stenman/ )

At one point of time Mr. Stenman did monthly themes on his site and one of these was of Gladiator GL-274:

As for Mr. Stenman's books, buy them if you can. He has retired from publishing, and last I heard was selling off all his remaining stock. Once gone, no more.

Former decal manufacturer InScale 72 has made some excellent decals of this subject

Hello!

I think you mean AML or somesuch. The list of decals is here at Kuivalainen model shop site:

http://www.kolumbus.fi/martti.kuivalainen/...ML/inscale.html

I can not see any Gladiator decals there? BTW Even if it is true that InScale 72 hasn't produced any decals for years it still is not "Former" decal manufacturer.

As for the Hurricane & Gladiator book. The text is fully bilingual Finnish-English and has real scale drawings (1/72) of Hurricane I (both sides, top and front view), Hurricane IIB (RH side and top view) and Gladiator II (both sides, top and front view). The drawings are by mr. InScale (Pentti Manninen) and for example get the Hurricane canopy and windshield geometry correct which is seldom seen. In my opinion simply the best Hurricane and Gladiator scale drawings.

And seems there is no 1941 photos of Gladiators in black/green camo in the book at least. Individual a/c histories do leave some candidates, though (these are about the only part of text not translated).

Cheers,

Kari

Mr. Eisenman, please edit your text out of the quote brackets. You have right with your statement there is no new editions to hope, but it is not my text. As one is lead to believe with your added text within my posting like it is now.

Sorry, I just didn't realize that I placed it inside the [/quot] Interesting that a quote can be hijacked..never realized. :shithappens:

I know personally Pentti and his drawings are definitely best ever!!! As I know he still publish Suomi Illmavoimat Historia Hehti (sorry for possible typing errors) and this very informative publications.

Thank you for update of your post. I have all of the decals sheets on the list and they are dated and made until late '90. Any news?

Cheers :)
