Neo uk
I've had this model for well over ten years now and it was one of my "get out and look for a bit" kits that most of us have. Anyway the other day I decided to build it along with the two other Spinners I've aquired over the years. When I looked at it sat next to the others I noticed there was something wrong with the shape of the front something that would take a lot of work to put right. I nearly put it back in the box but after much debate with myself I decided I would get stuck in, so I'm going to saw off the wheel pods of this rare kit....stay tuned :? Here's a before picture. jamboseven
I opened this up thinking it would be some wee plasticky thing. Spat my coffee over my desk and pc at work... Where the hell did you get them...they look superb. Don't touch them, just put lots of pics up These look like crown jewels to have in any stash..... If you have issues with how they look try and get a copy of Iron Maiden 'Somewhere in Time' preferable on vinyl because the Band are pictured with the actual spinner from the movie on the Slip sleeve inside Simon
Stu_davros
How big is that spinner with Deckard and Gaff? Not sure I'd want to saw the front off considering how much it would go for on ebay, you could probably buy a real car with the proceeds. GreenDragon
They look to me like (left to right) 1/48th, 1/24th and 1/32nd. Very nice kits! All I have is a 25/28mm scale resin look-a-little-like kit from Grendel/Scotia. Paul Harrison

Stu_davros
Wow, that is some seriousley good scratchbuilding skills, I'm looking forward to the next update. Have you seen the pictures of the comet miniatures 1/8th spinner prototype? Allegedly it will be available soon. (Although they have said that for about ten years.) Neo uk
Next bit to tackle. Cut the top off the pod after realising I'm not too happy with it. Just cant stop sawing this bugger up.
Neo uk
Latest so far, Made some changes to the wheel covers, (new one in primer) Built new spotlights with some clear acrylic rod in for lighting. Finally drilled out the other lighted areas. (dont know what I'm going to put in there though).
Neo uk
Going a bit slow on this at the mo. I'm trying to work out the best way to light these (see above) Took me ages last night just to line the inner wall with foil tape stuff to stop light leaks. Neo uk
A bit more progress on this. I made a silicon mold of the re shaped wheel cover before i cut out where I want the lit area to be so after cutting them out it was just a case of putting them back in the mold and pouring in some nice white resin. Easier said than done that was as I kept gitting the resin too thin or too thick .It took me five tries to get the resin just right ie, thick enough to be an even white colour and thin enough to let light pass through. Anyway stay tuned..
Neo uk
I've got the LEDs soldered up and installed behind the resin inserts, It took me absolutley ages sifting through LEDs to find sixteen that were all the same shade of white. Anyway here they are lit. This picture doesnt show them off very well but they do light up evenly and quite bright.
Neo uk
These wheel covers are killing me, god knows how many hours I've put into them already. Now I've had to crack out all the white resin inserts that I put in because I noticed some tiny black dots that turned out to be air bubbles in the resin. I knew they would haunt me in the future so they had to go So plan B, vac formed covers over the same area. I should have done it this way first intead of trying to be clever . These have took up way too much time to finish but I'm finally happy enough with these to proceed with a different part of the model now. Time to tackle the interior I think Edited July 6, 2011 by Neo uk
