bigVern1966
What crap RAF schemes!!!! Both from the Gulf Wars. First scheme (DC) from GW1 (1991), YI from GW2 (2003). The second one would need ASRAAM and outer pylons with TRD and chaff pod fitted.
AnonymousAA72
Well...despite some misgivings, and a preference for the HB kit, I purchased an Italeri F3 yesterday. Its not that bad and I think they have a better shape to the nose - certainly the intakes are a lot better. Areas for improvement? The undercarriage and wheel bays seem a bit anaemic and it would be nice if someone issued a nice new resin F3 or F3T cockpit tub, lightweight "Hindenburgers" (I've put them in inverted comma's to ward off anyone saying things like "...they were never called Hindenburgers") some decent pylons and AMRAAM's ASRAAMS! Plenty of available decal sheets out there to compensate for the lack of imagination in the kit. I'd certainly recommend some of Neil's at Paragon's seats (though I've seen worse than those provided in the kit) and the forward fin resin replacement - get them while you can, though I suspect if you fill the area inside the fin with milliput , you could file and sand to a decent shape. When I've finished the HB F3, I may start this and backdate it to an F2..........maybe?
Giorgio N
ADV stands for Air Defense Variant which i believe the italian AF used when they had a few of them It does stand for air defense variant, but this designation was not introduced by the italian air force. the designation was a factory one dating from before the first F.2 flew. For the manufacturer, the RAF F.2 and F.3 were ADV, the RAF GR.1 and the equivalent from the other countries were IDS.
