PaulR
Hallo there, Having heard rumours of a reissue (2 months after I acquired two on Ebay . . . ) Hannants now have them listed as a future release for £24.99. Given that they have taken older kits (thinking here of the Mirage F1) and added new decals and in some case news sprues with newer weapons etc, does anybody know if that is the case with this reissue? I'm going to get one anyway, but it would be cool if there were Asraams, flare dispensers, TRD etc . . . We can but live in hope! Paul

Simon
I believe it is the same kit but with new decals. The Italeri site has some sprue and decal shots and markings details here: http://www.italeri.com/Kit.aspx?PROD=01931 So, is there anything new on the sprues? guillaume320
I think it's the same plastic as before... What is surprising however is all the drawings for the different markings depict the aircraft with big tanks, but those are not included in the box... Tedfellows
To be brutally honest. i'd rather pay an extra tenner and get the hobbyboss kit of the ADV. Much more easier to build and looks great from staright out the box, as you're gonna have to buy shedloads of aftermarket on that over rated italian muck! As for HB one with it's totally screwed up nose, wing gloves etc......no thanks. Not being a Tonka afficianado I need directed by those who know these things to be pointed in the right direction so - as far as I understand it:- The Italeri version was OOP and much sought after though needed lots of Neils stuff from Paragon thrown at it to make it ok. People threw money at it on E Bay to get one then Hobbyboss said they were doing one and it was eagerly anticipated only for it to be slated as very disappointing when it arrived on shape issues So Italeri was back as flavour of the month - or is it? Which then is the better starting point or are both ok/have issues/poor/a pile of ? Smiffy
Well, for my money the Italeri kit is the better starting point. The detail is a little lacking, but the shape is much better than the HB kit (IMHO).
Shaun
Disapointing decal schemes for RAF fans, no regular squadron jets?, Stencils looks good but you only get the older "no step" markings. Shaun. Edited March 4, 2011 by Shaun

(and the amount of people that wanted the Italera one even afterwards) i've plumbed for 2 Italera ones myself (already preordered) as they are rated as the most correct in shape, sadly the decals are not up to much, but I'm sure there will be better coming along. be interesting to see both kits side by side built, personally I think the Italera one would win, but by how much will be interesting. bigVern1966
Rear Cockpit is wrong on all of them for a standard F3/ADV (only 2 TV Tabs, No moving map display and frame work carrying some flight instruments, which had some additional metalwork added holding countermeasure operation buttons (Chaff/Flares) added to it (mostly likely during GW1)) The HobbyBoss one did the rear panel of the F3(T) Trainer version
yeehah1
050311 forgivr my ignorance, but is an ADV the same or similar to an F3? It's just that the way they are mentioned above, it seems they are similar. Could you cross-kit hte Hobbyboss and the Italeri kit? Liam

I guess F.3 is the RAF's designation, and ADV is the manufacturer's designation (for non RAF aircraft)? Simon
jet-mech
ADV stands for Air Defense Variant which i believe the italian AF used when they had a few of them

Dave Each to their own I guess....I'm in the process of buidling the HB kit and am thoroughly enjoying it. I've butchered the intakes and tackled the nose shape. Its what Plastic card, Milliput and wet'n dry paper is for - after all!! IMHO it is a better starting point, for an F3 given the vastly superior surface detail of the HB kit over the Italeri kit. Of course its all down to individual preference ....for those "It looks like an F3" modellers then either will surely do; For those of us at the "Rivet Counting" end of the spectrum again either kit will do, though a lot will then depend on how much work the individual modeller is prepared to undertake on either model ,and how accurate they want it - or how much accuracy can be achieved. The Italeri kit is old with sloppy detail - in the tail pipe area and in the surface detail and a few accuracy issues. The HB is new with better detail but with accuracy issues with the intakes and the nose. The canopy is shallow and stores - adequate. Neither kit is perfect, both will be better with some work. Problem may be getting decent detailed resin for either kit - given that Neil at Paragon is ceasing production - The Italeri kit needs Paragon resin!! PaulR
Morning all. Was wondering if anyone had seen - or has pics of- the new decal sheet? An earlier poster commented there was no 'regular' RAF squadron marks, which there were on the original sheet (5 sqn IIRC), so what are they now?
