speedy
I'm taking part in the Jag GB and in the background was this Comet, and i was asked to put up photo's. So here's the progress so far. The kit has been extended by 21mm to make it into a 4C. Paint worked is all Aerosol apart from the red which is brush painted. All the antennas have been added from plasitc card. I thought i'd have to put the A&AEE B-D down the red stripe, but i did manage to find photos without it on, so phew! The only thing left to do, is paint the ducts on top of the wings and get the blue stripe (that sits above/below the red stripe) at Telford this weekend. dswoofie
Thanks Speedy! That looks really good. Me thinks I might have to have a go at one of these now! So is this beauty going to be at Telford then? Where about's are you and I'll pop along on Sunday... I've always had a soft spot for this comet. I remember seeing at Fairford in 93/94 ish in the flying display, lovely! Karl.
Gary West
We need more of this stuff - fantastic build Speedy. Love it "Canopus" right? I have just added this to my want list.
desmojen
That is just gorgeous speedy, the Comet has such lovely lines. We have one here as our gate guard, apparently the only one remaining of it's type. She's called Saggitarius Jen. Gary West
She's called Saggitarius Does that mean she was built in December I wonder?
speedy
Thanks for the comments folks. I will be at Telford on Saturday, but only as a punter. I'm not a member of the national IPMS, just my local group, so none of my colourful stuff will be on show. However, will be on the look out for the 12pm Bmodeller photo shoot, so should meet some of you there. Gary - yes it is Canopus - which is now at Bruntingthorpe, which i've seen it do runway runs with the Lightnings. I flew in her in 1986, doing Tristar navigation trials over the English channel. I remember looking out of one window and seeing sky, the other was sea - completley on her side Desmojen - I've been to Lyneham a few times, mainly departing out and doing liaison visits. I take it you guys will move to BZN with the fleet? Edited November 9, 2007 by speedy
Derek Bradshaw
Very nice Comet Speedy - I once converted this kit into a Nimrod MR.2...until someone nicked it Jen: Saggitarius, a Comet C.Mk.2 if I remember correctly, is indeed a nice aircraft (and rare). I made three 1/72 models of that aircraft for the RAF whilst at RAF Henlow (EPF)...they were auctioned for charity. You can never have enough Comets Derek Edited November 9, 2007 by Derek Bradshaw
