Yet more Beaufighter queries, sorry!

This may well be the last time I bother everyone with queries about 1:72nd Beaufighters. Hopefully. Please bear with me!

The Techmod decal sheet I am using is not quite the right colour: as I have often found with Eastern European decals, the reds for the RAF roundels are too bright, and the blues are a bit dark.

I have the Xtradecal sheets for the C and B type roundels, so can replace all the national markings without any problems.

However, if I do this the code letters will be a brighter red than the roundels. A brief look on Hannants' website tells me that the only code letters I can buy in Dull Red are either 6" serials, or 48" codes: i.e. Lancaster sized!

I need letters that are about 31" high (11 mm in 1:72nd scale, I suspect 30" was the standard size and Techmod have them slightly too big). Does anybody know if anybody ever made any such letters, and if so where can I buy some? Or should I just live with the slightly differently coloured codes?

You'll get away with differently coloured codes unless you've got an indisputable colour photo that shows the subject and the colours are an exact match.

Usually the insignia was applied at the factory and the codes by either the MU or once the aircraft arrived at the squadron, its unlikely they'd ever have been an 'exact' match
