Dave Fleming
I know we have some very knowledgeable Chinook people on here so hopefully these won't tax them too much!! (i) What colour is the inside of the bay the rear undercarraige sits in? Underside colour? (ii) On the Revell 1/144th HC1, there is a large circular fairing on the underside - on pictures of the HC2 there just seems to be a flat plate. I can't find a decent underside shot of an HC1 to confirm if the HC1 had this or not. Edited February 6, 2011 by Dave Fleming

AjD
In all of the photos I have of the HC.2, the bays are the same green as the rest of the aircraft. They are more dirty of course, but the base colour is the same. Andy
sulky
hi its been about 8 yrs since ive worked on one but that area is the same colour as the outside of the cab but as has been said is a lot dirtier i think the large flat are that you have on the hc2 is the doppler antena, could you post a pic of your model so i can see exactly what you want to know

sulky
ok just had a look at some old course notes and from what i remember i had to lie on my back with my feet holding to doppler up to fit it, so in between the wheels is too far back, according to a very bad notebook of mine the doppler is in front of the uhf type aerials in front of the round thing still looking ok heres is a picture showing the underneath of a chinny with the aforementioned doppler as the white square and the circular thing just behind the front u/c and aft of the fwd hook and heres a better one, save it and zoom in as you see what ever it is, is off centreline strange might have to facebook a couple of mates at odiham for this one Edited February 6, 2011 by sulky
Jabba
Sorry I have been a bit slow on this thread. The plate you ask about is the ADF loop aerial, and it was fitted to Mk1 Chinooks.

Richard E
Apologies if I'm hijacking Dave's thread. An interesting set of markings on this Chinook - can anyone shed anymore light on its serial and operator?

An interesting set of markings on this Chinook - can anyone shed anymore light on its serial and operator? Not sure where the picture is taken, but the markings look like the ones applied for the evacuation of British civillians from Beruit in 2006 http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/NR/rdonl...EPI18619706.jpg ]http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet//NR/rdonlyres/66A93CC5-1CA2-4825-8404-CF1B1A227282/0/CCT06100OUNC186.jpg http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/NR/rdonl...6100OUNC124.jpg Interesting, it's not often you see that box on the rear pylon with the cover off (As I have said before, I don't need to know what it is, just that it's there!!)
