Inverted
Looking good so far Mark! Flaps are off on mine as well, i filled the end fillet with plasticard as well Bill.... My next question is how to split the solenoid fairngs to mount the surface?? i see in some pics that there is a kinda step, where in fact there are panel lines on the part. HOWEVER is there some form of screw between the 2 parts??....

Mark M
Very nice indeed Mr Marples.Tell us, what do you think of the shape of the intakes having got this far? Phil. thanks phil, i havent really looked it was a fight to get them lined up with the fuserlarge the design of them is crap there is no chance of getting rid of them seams inside properly at a quick look the look ok, im more worried about the shape of the nose, it looks too stubbie to me but im not sure
PHIL B
In that case I'll just have to squint when I look at both areas cos I'm not mucking about with it in this scale and resin bits would break the bank as well as the undercarriage.
Iain Ogilvie
All looks good to my eyes... Certainly looks like a Hawk and quacks like a Hawk Bit of an unusual step at the front of the windshield where it meets the fuselage - but some blending with filler should sort that. Had mine on my stand at Milton Keynes - generally very well received by the vast majority of folks I spoke to - but there were a few complete t*****s amongst the audience talking utter crap. What is it about some modellers Iain

Iain Ogilvie
Unfortunately you do Mark! Yours is looking great btw - most important thing - are you enjoying it? I never used to be particularly interested in the Hawk - but I blame you and Revell for my current addiction Iain

Iain Ogilvie
Without naming names or any other pack-drill, what was said ? Any good goss ? Mainly stuff said while I was away judging and my wife was on the stand - she has a very poor view of the modelling fraternity now... I think funniest was a guy getting her attention (she was trying to do her Playgroup accounts) to point out that all the web builds/blogs were wrong and it wasn't £18.99 - she looked up and said it was. Answer - no it isn't. Her answer - would you like to see the receipt? Then pairs of modellers where you'd get one saying to the other 'Oh well, of course this is wrong, that's wrong, the decals are wrong, the seats are appalling, that's only a test shot of course - production one's are grey - etc, etc... FFS - it's a 1:32 Hawk - it's a great build - it looks pretty accurate (to my eyes so far - just a few minor tweaks) - and is an amazing price. What more do people want? Or do they just want to give themselves some self worth by believing they are such an expert that if they tooled it it would be perfect??? It's a MODEL Sorry - I love these forums - and think the majority of modelling folk I've ever met have been brilliant - but there is a minority that seem to appear out of the woodwork at shows that really need a life! Sorry - rant mode off Iain
Mark M
i was at waddington air show last year and was lisenting to a chap telling me how bad raf medics are and how the display was all wrong, i listened to him for 10mins then asked him if he was in the medical profession he said he was a sales man at which point i pointed out to him im a nurse and was a RAF medic for 8 years! and he was talking crap, to which he went very red and walked away quickly without saying another word
Iain Ogilvie
RAF Medics are brilliant - have had cause to use their services before - out at Akrotiri - when we had a Cadet go u/s big time. They were absolute stars! Oh - and the guys at Halton - Princes Mary's Hospital - as was. Was sad to see that unit go Iain
bigbadbadge
Looking Good Mark, you have given the addiction to others, I found myself on Ebay only the other day purchasing the 1/72nd Airfix T1. petetheplane
How close are you to applying the underside decals, Mark ? Bearing in mind they were designed for a flapless model, they might (might) need a bit of fettling to fit.
Mark M
the decals wont affect the flaps, im doing a black 19sqn one, i guess your talking about a red one, to be fair i never thought about it RAF Medics are brilliant - have had cause to use their services before - out at Akrotiri - when we had a Cadet go u/s big time. Bearing in mind they were designed for a flapless model, they might (might) need a bit of fettling to fit. As a matter of interest the latest "reds" scheme seems to have thw whole of the lower flap in white. So that should help...just leave it white (assuming a white undercoat for the signal red that is)
petetheplane
The flap in not entirely white, it has a red area at the top outer end
