ancient mariner Posted January 29, 2011 Share Posted January 29, 2011 (edited) Tried to get some decals for this Zero but didnt have as much success as I had hoped for,so Ive built it as a "generic" late war Zero using what tail codes I could scrounge. The red warning strips for the wings are still winging their way to me from across the pond,but Im calling this one finished. This Accurate Miniatures Grumman F3-2 has a bit of a chequered past. I bought it from a BM forum member who had lost the transparencies,thinking I could source some from the AM site........wrong they dont do them any more. So it waited around for a long time built and primed. I was going to buy another kit and crash mould a copy of the cockpit.................wrong again its discontinued. So her it is with a fictitious cockpit, not too noticeable when shes in the display cabinet(at the back). Hopefully Ill get someones scrapper in the future or a kit of that auction site we all moan about. It really is a great kit and deserves another building,why AM deleted it I dont know,they still produce the early version . Ive still got a couple of weeks left of Kuta111 to complete my Bf 109, another saga of a build. Hope to post in the Gallery tomorrow.Im orf for my Saturday pint.
