Hi All,

I've done a previous post, but i'm just about ready to paint the interior on my Academy Honey. I just wanted to list the process i'll be trying. I've never done an interior before, so wanted to put it past you all.

Basically, i was going to prime the parts. Then spray them in a dark metallic colour, protect the layer with some varnish. Matt, gloss i'm not sure. Then try out the hairspray technique, spray some hairspray. Then the white top coat. When dry finish the hairspray technique to give the impression of worn paint.

Would that be ok, or am i making it hard work.

Any advice would be appreciated,

Thanks.

Hi Andrew, that sounds good. If you're going to do the hairspray technique then make sure you give it two or three good coats of hairspray and let each coat dry in between

Personally, for interiors I prefer drybrushing with the metallic colour as treadplate etc does not usually chip in the same way as the outside of the tank. You can also try tearing small bits off of a sponge (the kitchen type you get for cleaning pots, but use the sponge side not the scourer side, dipping it in the dark paint, dabbing most of the paint off on a cloth then dabbing that gently on for a very good chipped effect

Thanks Chris for the help. I've never done the hairspray technique before, but i might do it your way. So, just prime, white paint. Then drybrush?

I don't do much armour, so i'm a bit of a newbie at doing interiors,

Thanks.

That's right. You might like to try it out first on something to get a feel for it. Personally I've always found the hs technique too unpredictable. I've even had a couple where it hasn't worked at all :(

As for interiors, most armour kits don't have them so there are lots of armour builders in the same boat lol
