Dave Fleming
As the heading says, does anybody do add-ons/aftermarket for the RAF Chinook HC2/3 in 1/72? Or am I faced with some scratchbuilding? I can cobble some bits from the Eduard MH-47 set, but things like the IR countermeasures etc are RAF specific
Jabba
As far as I remember no. There is I think a 1/48th scale update by Italeri. I had to make my own when I built my last Chinook in around 2004, luckily I was still working on them so I could get actual measurements from the aircraft. Dave Fleming
Thanks Jabba, I guess a little scratchbuilding never hurt anyone!! Although your mention of the Italeri kit got me looking - and it seems that it was a combination of the pasrt that CMK now issue Italer http://www.scale-rotors.com/news-reviews/i...etail-set-26002 CMK http://www.scale-rotors.com/news-reviews/cmk And their 1/72 set appears to be a scale down of the 1/48th one, so that might give me a start, even if US Army parts are different in detail. moosequito
I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for Dave, but I can say this is a great little detail kit. CMK
Jabba
That would certainly cut down on the scratch building.
Dave Fleming
Thanks for the tip guys, CMK kit arrived today, and it certainly takes a lot of the pain out of adding the modern DASS to the RAF Chinooks! Only the forward pylon mounted optical sensors seem missing for the HC2. Wonder why they don't market it as being for the HC2...? Dave, if you look at the photo's on CMK's website, they are of a 27Sqn Chinook, so, I figure it IS for an HC-2. http://www.cmkkits.com/en/detail-sets-acce...k-exterior-set/ As you say though, strange they missed the sensors off the front pylon
