English Electric
This may seem like a daft question but I'm using Micro Flat for the first time, and despite much stirring and shaking it's not drying matt but gloss or at very best, satin. Am I missing something here, or is it just a rogue pot? At the minute it's looking like back to the Humbrol Matt Cote! Chris
Alex Gordon
I had the same problem a few years ago.Wound up using it as foil adhesive on an F 84.Never had the chance to try another pot since.

Mike
My Microflat went in the bin too... turned to jelly in the airbrush cup, despite being thinned with IPA, as suggested on the bottle. Try Vallejo matt - it's the most reliable one I've found, but shake it well before you use it
English Electric
I'll do that - thanks for the tip! Phew, I felt like a right berk asking that question, but it was really quite irritating, especially after having used most of the other Micro products, which are pretty great..! Anyway, thanks for the replies! Chris
Alex Gordon
Yep,the reason I tried it was that I'd read good things about it. Vallejo is very good and brushes out easily.
Mentalguru
Micro flat is one of modelling's biggest disappointments
F111Fan
I use Games Workshop Purity seal, gives a lovely eggshell finish, but don't spray too heavy a coat-it damages the paint other wise!
Fifer54
I used to find that the finish on my models was spoilt by MicroFlat. It was kinda OK until the decals went on, then I'd brush on MicroFlat and it formed a thick layer filling and obscuring surface detail. I found it got better when I thinned it with water. I use distilled water at about 2-3 parts MF to 1 part H2O. Stir very well, then when you think you've stirred it enough, stir it some more. Then allow the air bubbles to clear (a few minutes) and it's ready for use. My finishing still isn't great, but it's now improved a bit...!
