My first tank in 17 or so years.

The kit is the goo old 1/76th matchbox Sherman Firefly, built completely oob even with the dodgy out of register decals. Its not quite finished yet as i still have to paint the base it comes with and a tank comander to put in the open hatch. All i can say is man tanks are small and painting a 72nd aircraft ip should be a doddle now after painting those tools! You really don't realise how big aircraft are until you do a tank in a similar scale.

thanks guys your comments are most encouraging given its my first tank in so many years. It actually also the first tank model i've ever painted as well.

Nev, it was precisely because of the broken bridge section that i bought this kit. Sort of a revisiting my youth build.

Anyway, i've finished painting the bridge section just a few minutes ago (pics tomorrow), so just the comander figure to go and i'm done with this build and then on to a more complex kit, probably a Dragon Challenger 2 or Italeri M48 from the Vietnam war.

Very good work Oliver. I can remember building some of these Matchbox tanks with the bases, but never painted them or anything...

I'm going to have to get a tank out soon and have a go! Now look what you've done!
