I almost finish Mackie's Tempest and during Christmas started building Kittyhawk Mk.III LD-: (FR813)of no. 250 Squadron. Unfortunately only reference I have are 2 colour profiles (one of Tally Ho!'s and one in P-40's monography by Polish publishing house Militaria). Can anyone help me with the photos of this aircraft?

Thanks in advance

Hi Dom,

I did this A/C a year or so ago . I can tell you it had a red spinner as per DAF -Info from Flt Clarke who's regular A/C it was . The use of punction marks instead of individual A/C letters lasted approx 2 weeks before the powers that be instructed Clarke to use letters on the flights A/C. As for photo's I'll have to have a look .

OK, I'm waiting for the photos of the original a/c. But I have one more question as I've started painting small parts - what was the colour of the wheels ribs? According to Tally Ho! it was blue as the spinner? But after your information that the spinner was red I think that it could be either red or azure blue. Which version is correct?

I painted mine Azure blue to match undersurfaces.
