Jazzy Jase
I've just stumbled across this Tamiya Spitfire Vb "Metallic Edition". Does anyone know anything about it?
Séan Pádraig
I've not heard of this kit version before but the sticker on the box seems to explain it.
Bear13583
The sticker is normally found on one of the Tamiya rc 'Midnight Pumpkin' monster trucks. Must have been an error at the factory or distributors.
593jones
Probably means the box is now a collector's item
Jazzy Jase
If it's a mistake then fair enough, but if it's not then what? The text on the sticker just says "Silver Metal Plated Parts". So which parts? And what's the point?
Miggers
Shiny "go faster" undercart legs and wheels?
KLP Publishing
Tamiya did a version of their 1/48 P-51D in plated silver plastic. It was a pain to get off, I can assure you! Kev
Don McIntyre
I believe they also did a plated MiG-15 as well. Sounds like something similar to the old Hawk "plated" kits. The Spitfire would seem to be an odd choice as the only natural metal Mk V (Vs?) I can think of was the RAAF aircraft. Now, suppose you could paint the camo over the plated surface and then sand it down to "metal" for that well-worn finish effect…
