Nigel Bunker
I have just started building the Revell 1/72 kit. Does anybody have a reference for what colour the topsides were painted? Revell give a paint mix but I am sure there must be a RAL Specification for this colour. I have discovered French ones used Gris blue Clair whilst Dutch ones used Medium Sea Grey BS 687 but no informaton on German ones. Can anybody help? Giorgio N
Upper surfaces were in RAL 7012, at least in the original scheme. Don't know if any other paint has been used at a later stage. Lifecolor has the paint in acrylic, I think wem or xtracolour have an enamel.
Nigel Bunker
Thanks Georgio - I think I have a tin of that colour - result!
Evalman
I always thought that the colours were the same for Dutch, German, French and Italian Atlantics in the old Grey / White scheme. I have an old Modelart Set and I am sure they quote the same shade.
Giorgio N
The Italian Air Force table of colours indicate for ASW planes the use of Grigio Mare Medio Lucido 3 (gloss medium sea grey). This was later replaced by the flat version of the same colour, Nr. 30 in the table. The best match in the federal standard for both colours is FS. X6239. The atlantic was painted in this colour until the scheme changed to overall grey.
