Bomber_Harris
Hi I'm planning a small diorama, with a Liberty and and a destroyer escort, and some air cover ( all time dependent!) I am currently waiting for a PE set for the Liberty so while sitting watching the NFL tonight i made a start on the air cover part of the build. Its a Skywave 1/700!! Catalina in US Navy VP-73 markings, opperated from Reyjavik in April/May 1942. The painting is not great but its tiny, well thats my excuse and i'm sticking to it Part 1 of the build complete, the next part might be a bit more taxing! MASH4077
Err didn`t the Catalina fly with its wing floats raised to the wing tips in flight? Tony
Bomber_Harris
Err didn`t the Catalina fly with its wing floats raised to the wing tips in flight? Tony Wow tough crowd. But good point, didn't think about that. To be honest the floats are so small and fragile, when the inetivable happens and i knock them off, i'll re-attach them properly. Not to pile on, but those are basically pre-(US entry into the)war markings. I think Libertys weren't in service until 1942 and Buckley DEs not until 1943, so you've got a small anachronism in there ...
