Hi

I have finished my SLUF (which I think is a very unkind nickname for a very beautiful, reliable and capable aircraft!)

The fit of this Hasegawa kit was not very good and the raised detail left a bit to be desired, but pleasingly the decals went on without a hitch.

I hope you like her.

Heres my 1/72 Academy A-37B Dragonfly, 8th SOS 14th SOW, Bien Hoa AB, Vietnam 1970.

Slightly fictional loadout, 2 droptanks, 4 Mk.82 Fuse Extenders and 2 SUU-14 Dispensers. Just thought it looked good and at the end of the day its about enjoying the hobby and that I most certainly do.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did, and thanks for a great first groupbuild.

Build report is HERE.

All the best,

Dan.

Hello,

My main contribution is the Italeri B-57G Canberra, which I have found to be a creditably accurate kit, despite its age. In fact, there would seem to be fewer errors than the current Airfix 1:48 item. This is only the second build I've seen where the HF aerial has been included. The aftermarket parts were: Aeroclub Escapac seats, Xtradecal decals, augmented by those from the kit, Cobra Resins cockpit (suitably modified, I eventually found a way of sending him cash for the item), Eduard general detail set and Spectre Resins M36 bombs. The aircraft represented is that of the 13th BS, 8th TFW towards the end (hence the weathering) of its stay at RTAFB Ubon.

And here's one I did earlier. Much earlier. 20 years ago, in fact, when I was just beginning to do my own research and strive for accuracy in modelling. It's the Airfix F105G Thunderchief, of the 561st WWS, 388th TFW at RTAFB Korat, and it's held together reasonably well for its great age. I forgot to remove the eyehook and thread from it, though! It used to hang from the ceiling in those far-off days.

sorry for posting so late, this ol girl was finished some time ago as seen in my build thread, a mish mash of kit parts due to a large amount being finished, i look at it as a upgraded MF/ PFM. Great fun all in all. oh and the bugger was brush painted, not the easiest thing in the world.

Well what can I say?Maybe that she's done for now I think. Two nights no sleep,2.5LB resin for a base, the paint that got screwed up near the end and me having to do it almost from scratch, the buggering up of a cherry girl sheet and the replacement decals dissentegrating and having to be built like a million piece jigsaw puzzle, the canopy that broke and had to be repaired(twice). But then again what else can you expect from a THUD!

I know that the AC depicted was not a part of the vietnam conflict in the guise that she turned out to be depicted in but then again she was and still is a survivor of that particular conflict and hence I hope that the incorrect timeframe for the markingns can be forgiven.

Tried the wheathering with plaka paints for the first time and I must say I do not think that I will do it again. The base is not completely done as yet but there is still a F model that must go onto it and then I will make it a more permanent structure.

Hope you guys like.

O yes I forgot to say that the clear cote in the picture is still wet hence the shiny like finish.

i like that, what a great display, well done on the flying config.

Thanks M I do not think that it is even up to the bar of some of my very first builds but well the damn wheel wells is a nightmare and with all of the disasters and moving house in between I wont moan and groan too much.I am thinking of stripping it down at some stage or the other and repairing some irritations and re doing the paint.

But that is a story for another day!
