eng
Had a burst of enthusiasm last night and decided to get this one off the "pending" shelf onto the completed shelf instead. It only required decalling (all 12 or so!!), weathered and varnished to finish it. It's straight OoB with only some Tamiya tape straps added to the pilot, and you can't really see these anyway. Apart from a primer coat of Halfords Aluminium it's all brush painted using the following paints - Humbrol acrylic 230, Xtracrylic Med sea grey, and Vallejo for everything else. Decals were applied onto a small pool of Klear and sealed over with another coat once settled into place, the starboard serial has silvered ever so slightly over the panel lines but isn't too noticable to justify worrying about. Varnish was a light misting of Humbrol matt varnish out a rattle can. The lower 2 camera windows were done with MicroKrystal clear as I couldn't get the clear part to fit very well. Weathering was kept to rubbing back the topcoat in places to reveal the Halfords Aluminium underneath, I used a cocktail stick for this, especially to add chipping around some of the access panel edges. I also ran some very diluted Vallejo black acrylic paint around the edges of the elevators, ailerons and a select few panels to add a bit of contrast. A few slight streaks were added from the aileron hinges and some access panels to finish off. The only thing I haven't done is add any exhaust staining as I need to aquire some pastels first! Anyway here's a few pic's of what will take me to a grand total of.........3 this year!! Now back to the C-27 and pile of Tornado's in work. All comments and crit welcomed. Miggers
Looks pretty good to me. And on the subject of pilots in PR.XIX cockpits, you want to see one getting in It's a wriggle for the BBMF boys in their snazzy black overalls,it must have been great fun when togged up in a fleecy Irvine outfit to keep you warm at altitude.......... No cockpit door on a PR.XIX you see,and if you've ever sat in a Spit and shut the door........., well, lets say broad shouldered types need not apply Mark
