dswoofie
I haven't got that one, but I built the Italeri HAS.3 recently. It's a nice kit all round and enjoyed it (apart from doing the rescue yellow scheme!!!) Straight from the box, nothing added... I think there are some interior parts for it available, I didn't bother as it looked OK to me direct from the kit without too much messing. Karl. Gwart
The Hu5 is a nice kit and only really needs a Photoetched grill on the nose to make it that little bit better.
AnonymousA667
The Airwaves set looks a vast improvement over the fret they originally had for the Matchbox Wessex. You can still get a very nice result building basically OOB but adding a few refinements without buying any extras. I have Modeldecal 095, highly recommended. peebeep

desmojen
I bought a Pavla resin cockpit for mine. It is a decent improvement over stock, and not expensive. That said, the kit is pretty good anyway. The interior shots I have are a dark blueish grey colour, and as far as I know the rotor blades are olive green on top and black underneath. Even if the kit wasn't great, you gotta love that box art! Jen.
seanrgb
Check my faa photos thread.... A-Ha thats Humphrey ..Na this one has to be a RAF Version But saying that I may well do get a RN version one day I bought a Pavla resin cockpit for mine. Len Thomson
It is a good kit. The tail rotors need the rotation direction reversed. I did this with mine without any aftermarket, apart from decals....... Edited November 18, 2007 by Len Thomson
Robert A
Hi Sean, The 4+ book on the wessex is what you want for reference on this. Unfortunately it will point out that you can only build an RN HU5 or an ex-RN HU5 that was used by the RAF in Cyprus (an HU5C I do believe). The usual RAF version was called an HC2 and had square windows, this is the only fix you'd have to do, other than reversing the tail rotor blades. I cheated on ine and swapped the main body of a UH34J Seahorse (also Italeri) Other than these small items it's a cracking kit. Also the troop area of the cabin is a medium grey colour with blue vinyl seats. Bob All of the above is from memory as I'm not able to access by references at present Edited November 18, 2007 by Robert A

Robert A
Hi OZ & Sniper, Oz you are correct it is an ex-FAA aircraft, however Sniper is also correct in that it was transferred to the RAF as a ground instructional airframe and apparently the station commander wasn't keen on a Naval a/c on his station and ordered it to be painted overall yellow. Bob Spot on. The model (and this particular a/c) is a HAS3 and was flown by the RN, the Yellow Wessex that it is being compared with is a HU5. I could be wrong but I dont think that any HAS3's were ever "flown" by the RAF. That aside, it is a great model!!
