F-18 help required please.

In a fit of my legendary impulsiveness I just purcased these decals

Can anyone tell me which is the right type of F-18 to put them on???

You'll need an F-18A of some description , Hasagawa I guess, but basically any A model hornet would do

As the others said, it's the 'A' model

Hasegawa make a CF-188 Hornet or did, It's the same as the A apart from it has the interrogation light on the port side of the nose.

You can also buy the >> Hasegawa F/A-18C #D08 << as this has the same sprues as the A boxing (plus the G sprue for the C version), and seems to be more readily available than the A versions.

Plus you get lots of weapons to hang off of it. No buying extra Hasegawa Weapons sets!!!!

Thanks guys, it's good to know I can use the C. Despite my best efforts I couldn't find a Hasegawa A anywhere.

I'll look out for something at Telford though. Hannants had the Hobbyboss as coming soon, is it out yet?

Luckily all of the "A" boxings have the searchlight included so getting a canadain boxing need not matter.

The problem with the Hobby Boss kit is that it has some major shape issues in the canopy (too wide) and the intakes, which are too large and squared. The MLG has some major issues as well, mainly the NLG torque links being scale 3 feet too long!

Another problem is that the vertical tails have the early stub bulge RWR fairings. These were only on the FSD and 1st lot production F-18As. The reality is that type tail configuration has not existed since the mid 80s. Most of the stores are inconsistent for an A model and are crude as far as detail/accuracy goes. Hobby Boss just did not do their homework.

Over all, the Hasegawa F-18A kit is still much better and a lot more accurate, not to mention has the correct or current vertical tail configuration. The only problem is that they are not as readily available as the HB kits are now.
