fraxinus
Going to give this GB a go, starting & completing GB's declined somewhat after July 2010 even though I wanted to take partin the : what if, B of B & Nightfighters it just didn't happen (work & back trouble halted modelling activity!) now with a 2 week break at Christmas & potentially a bit more 'time management' creeping in at home & work ....I'm registering the following (5 months is a nice length of time) Supermarine Walrus (matchbox or Airfix) Catalina (old Revell or another from the loft ) and a ship ....not sure what is in the loft ....need to research this & find the models in the furthest reaches of the loft space where unbuilt ship models live! rowmk9
Another seadog! This GB is going to be fun. Can we start our individual build threads now? Obviously the actual building starts a bit later so don't worry, I wasn't going to launch my U-Boat just yet...
Phil Reeder
It`s good to see that there are a fair number of ships in the GB. If PHatNess agrees,I don`t see why we can`t get the ball rolling now, with the build threads. I won`t be doing anything ,as yet,I`m on with a ship that didn`t take part in the Atlantic battle,so I want to finish that first. At the risk of claiming to be a "Self-Appointed Expert" ,if anyone has any queries regarding naval or merchant vessels ,please do not hesitate to contact me via PM,and I will try and help them. Good luck with your creations , Cheerio Phil
Alan P
Most definitely agree you can kick off your build threads asap. And if you have questions, why not post it in the Q&A thread so we can all have a go at helping each other out? Let the fun begin!
Phil Reeder
Well ,after a bit of thought, and my usual indecision,I think I`ll alter my build to a scratch-built Hunt class escort destroyer,in 350th as usual. They were handsome little vessels ,and I managed recently to get hold of the Man o` War book on them, which is an excellent reference source. see you on the slip-way!! aurora-7
having just acquired a Revell HMS Campbeltown, I've already got next year's subject for a BOA build: The HMCS ST Croix. But I'm anxious to start my Spikenard. I've got from the 22nd to the 3rd off so I hope to get a lot accomplished done in that time.
Bomber_Harris
Hi if its not too late can i join in this one, I'll definitly build a 1/700 Skywave Liberty Ship, and time depening i may also build either a destroyer or flower class corvette as a escort. I may also build a Sunderland in 1/700 (shouldn't take too long) Regards Richard

polybebber
Hi, I'm new to Britmodeller, even though I have registered long time ago I've never posted here. If Germans aren't banned from this GB (hey, we started this mess, didn't we) I'd like to participate. I wonder if any of these three would qualify: Fairey Albacore Mk. I FAA Blackburn Skua Mk. II FAA (both Special Hobby 1/48) Bristol Beaufighter Costal Command (Tamyia 1/48) Any comments are appreciated. BTW, I live in a small village in Southwestern Germany near the Black Forest, am 60 years old and have some spare time and too big a stash on my hand. Phil Reeder
Of the three aircraft ,I think the Beaufighter would be the most appropriate. As far as I`m aware the Albacore didn`t play any part in the battle, the Skua on the other hand played only a small part in the very beginning of the battle(two Skuas, from Ark Royal attacked a U-boat in Sept 39,and both had their tails blown off by the explosion of their own bombs, the surviving aircrew were captured by the U-boat) good luck Phil
Speckled Jim
Add to my build list a HMS Rodney, Just got a Nelson from the delightful people of the internet and the Royal mail... just need to get 1:700 or 1:600 ensigns

Shar2
I might have to reconsider the L class destroyer I first declared. Will see how things go with time and how well the U-Boat vs Sunderland build goes.
Alpha Delta 210
Hi Room for one small one?! May I join the fun with another Airfix Sea Hurricane, built straight from the box?
Jasonb13
Hi there! I'd like to do a Revell 1:144 Type VIIC sub myself ( I know, yet another one! ). As I've been discussing on the Maritime forum, I'm not certain exactly how I'll be doing the kit, and it might be a Type VIIC /41 instead, but either way I'd like to use the incentive of a GB to help me along, if that's ok? This will be my first ever GB, and my 3rd model after a long long break, so please go easy on my efforts! Thanks... J.

Either a Type VIIC or VIIC/41 u-boat is perfectly alright. It will join the "Wolfpack",now assembling.I may have to do an escort to counter this menace!! Good luck Phil

Erwin
Hi Mods, Is their some kind of flolow-up in the GB in terms of a "best of show" poll ?
AnonymousDFB1
Hi Erwin, I have PMed the Hosts to ask the same question, but as of yet had no answer. Lets give them a few days to wind things up.
AnonymousDFB1
Do the participants in the GB want a poll? If so I will set one up. If not I will quietly put this to bed.
jimbuna
Not sure if this is the right place but I can donate a 1/700 IJN waterline model from a selection I have for a prize if needed.
Jasonb13
Well, I unfortunately have nothing to donate, as I've only really started modelling in the last few months and my stash is rather meagre. Personally I think a poll would be nice, we've all put a lot of work into the builds. That said, it's not like I'd be doing any of the work on creating the poll etc. so it's easy for me to say! J. rowmk9
I think just a little poll till Sunday 5th June and leave it at that. no prizes or anything, seeing as it might be late to organise that.
