Might not have been called a Harrier - but definitely part of the family. Next the Airfix 72nd Harrier GR3. No 1 Sqdn. This one was mounted on a stand and given to our vicar - who was a retired SEO Harriers. He was delighted with it - and with a similar Jagh GR1A. Same kit - my more recent copy now, pre and post Artic camo. scrubs up well! And a Matchbox GR3 - No4 Sqdn - as a RAF Gutersloh when I went there as an ATC cadet in 1978. Fujimi GR3 - Awkward construction with this one. About the best of the bunch until recently. An Esci AV-8A. Overtaken by the New Airfix offerings. Here's my First Airfix GR1 And another copy - 20 Squadron this time. And now the Airfix 1/48 GR-3 Falklands Hero. And a Sword 1/72 two-seater's T4 in my stash. Matchbox Sea Harrier made in 1982 after the Falkland Conflict was concluded A T4, made so long ago I can't even remember which kit it was (may have been a Heller). I know I had to seriously modify the nose and rear fuselage Hasegawa GR7, built as GR9 Sorry about the photo quality.................. Airfix 1/48h scale GR3 - back dated to 1 Sqn GR1 ca. 1970 Airfix 1/48th scale GR3 - Falklands War. Took a bit of a punt with the white RN pods - they may have been silver? Hasegawa 1/72nd scale GR5- 1 Sqn 1990 Esci 1/72nd GR3 - yes I know the canopy's still wonky Dave!!! - 4 Sqn Esci 1/72nd GR3 (or GR1a?) - 20 Sqn Hasegawa 1/48th GR7 - 3 Sqn Hasegawa(Revell) 1/72nd GR7- 20(Res)Sqn Airfix 1/48th GR3 converted into a T4N - 899 NASqn. I used Milliput & plastic card. This is probably nearer 15 years old now - and the pic was taken from the ARC site - I have since stripped this kit down and will re-build one day! Airfix's 1/24th Scale GR3.....Probably my favourite model ever! Its been on loan to the Harrier SIG for the last decade or so, so you may have seen her in active (show) service during that time! She was returned to my Friday evening (Thanks Graham and Nick), and will take pride of place when I get around to building a display shelf or something! EDIT: Forgot my most recent one - a The Pegasus II GR5 in 1/72nd scale converted from Airfix's new GR9 Sea Harriers to follow! Fuselage plug was added by plastic card and Milliput and the new radome was fashioned from Milliput over a drop tank nose former... First up and the oldest of the three is the Fulimi SHAR ! 899 NAs post Falklands. Second and built over Christmas 2010 is the new Airfix GR7 in 801 NAS Markings for the Joint Harrier force. Great kit to build. Lastly the Airfix SHAR2 800 NAS. The kit was built on the back of the GR7 which was a cracker but not so the SHAR. One left to build, the prototpe Harrier which did some deck trails aboard the Bulwark in '66, I'll use the original Airfix kit for that build. It is full of very pretty and well presented Harriers though, so well done everyone.
