Calling all ejector seat experts!

Does any one know if you can get a resin (preferably) Mk9a ejector seat for Harrier GR3 (I hope this is the right seat). I can find MK10 for FRS1 and MK9b for jags but no Mk9a? Or could I use one of the above with some mods?

Any help much appreciated!

why not check the Martin Beaker website, they have pictures of all the seats, you can compare them

I have had a look at their website, and if needs be I'll modify one, I was just hoping someone may be able to point me to a resin replacement I hadn't spotted!

Have you checked Pavla ? They have a Mk.9, don't know if an a or a b.

If you end up modifying one, I believe the major difference is that the b has the parachute in the headbox, whereas the a's is in the seat back, with the withdrawl lines from the drogue passing through a prominent split in the centre of the headrest.

An easy check for Harrier seats as compared to the Jaguar seat is the location of the Personal Equipment Connector (PEC, adonised green on the real seat). This is where the pilot plugs in his O2 and radio connections when he straps in.

On the Harrier GR3, & T2/4 the PEC is situated on the seat side adjacent to the pilots right thigh. On Jaguar the PEC is located higher up on the opposite side adjacent to the pilots rib area.on the model seats it looks like a small narrow oblong box.

Another thing is if you are going all out on accuracy is the seat strap system. in 1981/82 the strap system was changed on Harriers. The original system was a lap belt and negative "G" strap (up between the legs)that joined on a lap belt mounted quick release box, and two small straps went over the pilots shoulders attaching to his life vest /combined harness with Koch fasteners at the shoulder.

The modified system did away with the Koch fasteners and introduced long straps over the shoulders attaching to a modified quick release box on the lap belt. a green foam back pad was introduced at the same time.

On a Harrier 9A it slopes backwards, on a Jaguar 9B it is an apex shape. I will send photo's of my seats (1:1 scale) if you need them ?

Heritage do a cockpit set:

The headbox looks more like a Mk10 though, but it's hard to be absolutely sure from the angle - might be worth dropping Ian at Heritage a line to confirm.
