Phartycr0c
There are vast differences in the shades applied to Flankers. Whilst the initial colours were called out as a Blue-grey, medium blue and pale blue respectively, Russian air force Flankers were very rarely hangared, and as a result were exposed to the harsh weather conditions. This faded paint so much that some of them appeared as almost one colour except around the canopy area which was covered with tarpaulins, protecting the paintwork sufficiently it appeared as nature intended. Most colour paint sets will call out "factory fresh" colours which is ok, but the Flankers really do suffer badly with fading. I used Modelmaster paints on my Trumpeter Flanker and TBH If I were doing it again, I would look to lighten the dark blue grey quite a bit. I think its is a case of researching the example you want to model than approximate the colours. Hopefullly you cas get what I mean in variation Here Hope this helps? Linden Hill
AKAN produce all the colours you'd need for the original VVS/PVO Su-27 camo scheme. We're out of stock right now, but should be getting more in January: http://www.lindenhillimports.com/akan.htm
Iain Ogilvie
Brilliant - didn't know about those paints! Means I can aim to have mine ready for paint in New Year - will give these a go. Giorgio N
Check this page: http://www.mars.slupsk.pl/fort/sukhoi/ Select the contry you're interested in. When the profiles appear, click on the profile and a full camouflage scheme will appear. Undersides are in the lighter of the camouflage colours. Giorgio N
do i just guess at the camo underneath? There's no camo underneath, in the standard camouflage scheme the undersurfaces are completely in the lighter of the colours used in the camo scheme, as shown in this picture http://www.aerospaceweb.org/aircraft/potw/pics004.shtml
