Col.
Been a while since I was last able to contribute in RFI but this one was finished at the end of October for the What-if GB. The build thread is linked here. Based on the 72nd scale Academy kit with a little added detail and all markings sprayed on this started as an OOB build but quickly gained additions mainly to the cockpit and undercarriage legs. crookedmouth
What a horrible colour scheme! Nicely executed though.
BasicModelling
Very different, to say the least.. But an interesting topic for a 'Whiff'.. I believe the Soviets had at least one (probably Allison engined) P-51 Mustang for evaluation, but they either didn't like it, or the US gave them no more, because I have never heard of the Red Air Force actually flying them.. the MDman
It indeed will not win a beauty contest, but it is very well executed, the weathering is also very subtile.
Col.
Cheers gang, sorry if it jars the eye a bit but at least it'll be a splash of colour in the display cabinet, not much chance of seeing another one like it either From what I understand there was a single P-51C tested near Moscow and that was the only one in Soviet colours. Unless there was some 'borrowed' during the Korean War...
