eng
Morning all, Can anyone (Spike?) tell me if the Tornado uses the same flap position for take-off and it does for landing? I've had a look at a few pic's and some make it very difficult to differentiate. To me it would seem like a very strange set up as I'm used to commercial aircraft where there's a massive, and noticeable difference, and I'd always expect the landing config to have a greater flap droop position. I've a set of resin Airwaves Tornado wings with flaps and slats deployed and wondered if I could use them in a take-off diorama. Any help appreciated. sooty
For take off the flaps are set to the mid position and are set to the fully down for landing. There isn't a massive difference between the two so it is quite difficult to tell from pictures. The slats go to the same position for both flap settings. There is a third setting for the slats and flaps known as manouvre where the slats and flaps are only partially deployed to aid lift when, funnily enough, performing vigoruos manouvres, or flying at slightly slower speeds. eng
Thank's for the info Gent's, I knew about the "manoeuvre" setting, does make you wonder what kinda airloads go through the tracks and jackscrews when they fling the thing around!! Will see how the Airwaves wings look when slaved onto the kit and see if I can get away with them for a "take-off" setting before I decide to tamper with them, they are very fragile! Thank's again for the info Eng
