vonmarkenhausen
Good evening to all. Can any one tell me their preferences as to using glue with resin and/or brass photo etch. I have been using super glue gel. It sticks the pieces together ok but can look blotchy on the finished article. Particularly with minute parts such as handles etc. I have recently been building some Plus Model kits in 1/35th scale. Answers appreciated. Andy K
Use a thin or medium viscosity superglue. You'll find it in a decent model shop or online (providing your card does'nt get stolen)

avro683
Gator Grip glue, available from A2Zee Models, is also very good. Tony
modelman182
I built their T-27 in 35th a few years ago. My favoured brand of CA is Rocket, which comes in three viscosities (thin, medium and almost a gel). In combination with some soldering (which proves easier to clean up, I find) it came out rather nicely - though I'm not sure I'd EVER want to tackle the 72nd scale version of the kit! Mike
For tiny parts that won't get touched after installation, you can use Klear/Future floor polish. Put a tiny dot where you want your part to go, and position it. It dries off pretty quick, and should give a strong enough bond if the part is unlikely to be handled again. That technique is also useful for attaching PE to clear parts, like mirrors, windscreen wipers, det-cords etc.
vonmarkenhausen
Thanks again, got to admit I like using super glue gell as it doesn't run and tends not to get stuck to other stuff. (fingers etc) Probably a matter of practice in being more careful with the amount I put on. All the same some interesting ideas to try out. I was kind off thinking of tiny amounts of araldite? More fun to experiment with! Nice pics Kamshot, That is art in itself. Thanks for the replies.
Jon Fitzgerald
I use common or garden Loctite liquid super glue. It's cheap and you can get it anywhere. It's best to avoid the gel CA's I find them difficult to work with and control. Regular liquid loctite though can be applied easily with a scalpel blade or tooth pick to give precise application. For very small PE or wire (grab handles, and other small parts) you can also use Mr Surfacer to help fix it in place and further strengthen the parts.
