I think most of you might have seen the build on the site but here's a few more pics.

All out of the box. The instructions don't call out for any nose weight but you only have to breath on it and it will tail sit, so I would stick 5grams in the nose next time. Apart from that no filler needed, It was just the decals being a bit thick, of centre and a bit bright, so I would go for some replacements.

And here's my new French collection

The full build is Here

Thanks for looking and happy modelling

Really nice Mr Phil.... NOT A CRIT, just a question - Shouldn't the demarcation between the two camouflage colours be 'hard-edged', I know the Chad based F-1C's have a soft edged camo, just thought that the III's were factory sprayed hard-edged. Doesn't detract from the model, just superb.... Phil, how was it as a build ??

Lovely work Phil.

Crackin' little kit then by all accounts?

There is just something about the French own built stuff, I really like 'em. Whats next on the hitlist the Phil? Mirage 2000 maybe?

Thanks guys, I would love to do the Mirage 2000, but I'm back on the greys for a while that's see.

2X A-10C conversions from the 1/48 Hobby Boss kit

1X F-14D 1/48 Hasegawa kit

2X F-16CJ 1/48 Tamiya kit

1x B-1B 1/144 Panda kit

I need some colour :hypnotised:

I've given it a soft edge to give it that worn sun bleached faded look. I tend to do that to all desert camo. I use a harder edge for SEA camo.

As for the build, went together a dream with no complaints, full step by step build on my site HERE

Hi

You have built a very nice kit there. The colours are spot on for a weathered Mirage III C in Djibouti.

I would like to add some precisions.

For me she is a little bit too shiny. Especially under the hard sun in Eastern Africa. The demarcation between the two camouflage colours could be "harder".

Now about the markings. The good news are the Mirage III C N°87 10-LB did exist. I have several pictures of her at different periods. Actually from December 1978 when she arrived with the second wave at Djibouti, till 27 April 1985 when she crashed into the Red Sea with her pilot Cne Ezequel. Where is the second Mousquetaire on the starboard side? On the port one there was the grey Mousquetaire as you did and on the other side the blue one. Each one representing the two flights within the squadron.

Next Hobby Boss made a mistake with the roundels for they used to be without the yellow ring. There is a picture of the first Mirage III C (N°22) assigned to EC 3/10 Vexin in 1978 with yellow bordered roundels and yellow/red walkway lines. Anyway N° 87 had not. Furthermore you can change these roundels as the blue should be a blue/grey.

The front boom is black until the middle. The blade antenna near the canopy was yellow and the next one in white. The chute housing should be longer.

That's all I can say, for the moment.

Very nice Mirage, much better than the old Esci kit that I've got! I take it thats your new wash on there, looks really good. Excellent Skyraider too.

On the subject of VG33's better docummentation, why doesn't someone translate all those new Mirage books into English? They are a bit pricey but there's bound to be a good market for them. I really want the new two part Mirage F-1 series but I don't speak/read French. Well I can speak it a little but I'm a typical Brit and my limit is "Hello my name is Paul" and "One beer please" in French, German and Spanish!

Here comes the aim of the Forum : sharing information.

I have not bought the two big Mirage F1 books yet but I do believe in Santa Claus this year...
