rod mcq
According to the manufacturers own website the MiG-17s kits are only due for release this month so it's unlikely anyone will have these kits yet. legato/AZ models

Anyway, my question stands even if it has to wait a day or two for an answer as I would rather not waste 15 squidlings only to find it is no better than the Bilek MiG17F which (in my box at least) was a Dragon Mig17 which is the non-afterburner version, Ross
MiG Mongoose
It looks like a great kit, hopefully, the price won't be too high.
Julien
It looks like a great kit, hopefully, the price won't be too high. Price in europe is euro 17.50 so any where between £15/20 here. For a new tool I dont mind this, though getting to the high end of my range. when you think hasegawa are knocking their old tool stuff out for nearly £30 in 1.72 it does bring it into perspective. MiG Mongoose
I think 17.50 euro equates to about $35 NZD, which is quite high, but as you say, a new tooling is definitely worth this amount. Some of the decal options are highly attractive too!
Giorgio N
Not cheap, I hope it will be good ! The marking options are great: mali, angola, syria, egypt, vietnam, cuba.. very exotic !
haneto
You can find some in-progress threads on the famous Czech modelling forum here: Mig-17F "2077" North Vietnam AF 1/72 AZ To me,except the wrong shaped wingshield front glass, everything looks quite fine. Just my 2 cents, Yufei
upnorth
I picked one up earlier today. Certainly is a substantial leg up on the old KP kit, but the price was a bit on the high side for only two runners of parts plus an acceptable clear part. The clear part has some distortion to it and is a bit thick by current standards and expectations, but there are at least a couple of vac formed alternatives out there that I'm certain could be adapted to the kit. The only other let down I could immediately discern was that the horizontal stabilizers are simply butt joined to the vertical fin, so a bit of pinning or other anchoring will be in order. As said before, the price is a trifle high, but when you consider the alternatives for a MiG-17 in the scale it will come down to how badly you want a decent kit from modern toolings. John Thompson
Refresh my memory - what was wrong with the Dragon/DML 1/72 MiG-17? I know the Dragon MiG-15 was inaccurate in several ways, but I thought the MiG-17 was okay. Or is it just that it's not a MiG-17F? John

Perhaps it was only my eyes but it always looked a bit off in upper nose contour between the intake lip and the front edge of the windscreen. I've heard some say that the canopy was a bit underscale as well. The fact that its out of production and tricky to find in some quarters is also a point against it currently I've had a chance to look a bit closer at my recently purchased AZ kit and would say that the total lack of intake trunking and airbrakes molded closed are rather cause for disapointment in relation to the price.
