Obi-Jiff Kenobi
According to HLJ, Fine Molds are releasing a 1/48 TIE Fighter kit. It will be announced properly next month. At last, some opposition for their 1/48 X-Wing. Obi-Jiff

Madmonk
Well spotted Obi-Jiff, 1/48 scale will look nice. Now I wonder if they will do the same with the Falcon!!
Obi-Jiff Kenobi
That'd be one big model! I hope they do some more 1/72 kits - since they started the 48th ones, they seem to have neglected the smaller versions. I'd love to see FM turn their hand to the AT-AT and AT-ST. Madmonk
The problem is there are so many vehicles to choose from, the AT-AT would be cool but then they would have to do the Snowspeeder in 1/72nd, what a diorama that would be. Luke's Sandspeeder is a favourite of mine but probably too small for 1/72, the Naboo starfighter would also be near the top of my list as would the Jawa crawler, Imperial shuttle, A-wing, B-wing etc etc etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on FM get your finger out!!
Obi-Jiff Kenobi
Good point about the A-Wing and B-Wing - they could do those to complete the Rebel fighters. TIE Bomber would be nice too, and as you said, if they do the AT-AT they have to do the Snowspeeder. Although did you know there's a resin 1/72 Snowspeeder from RetroSF? RussTnailZ
Does anyone make a speeder bike kit always had a thing for them since watching rotj as a kid Russ Edited September 14, 2010 by RussTnailZ
Madmonk
Didn't know about the RetroSF Speeder, will have a look at that. By the way recognised the last 8 adverts, what was No.9 for? Edit: Russ, there are kits out there, the one that comes to mind is anout 1/12 scale and has a very dodgy Biker Scout with it. AMT I think. Edited September 14, 2010 by Madmonk
Obi-Jiff Kenobi
Russ, the only Speeder Bike kit I know of is, as Warren said, the old MPC/AMT kit. It's not brilliant, but it is your only option, apart from the 1/82 mirr-a-kit by MPC. Long out of production, mirr-a-kits gave you half a model, which you then stuck to the supplied mirror to make it look like a whole one! Have a look here for details of the bigger kit: Star Wars Models Warren, advert No. 9 was for a frozen pizza. Can't remember which make now though. For anyone interested, RetroSF's Star Wars kits can be found here: Retro SF Obi-Jiff Edited September 14, 2010 by Obi-Jiff Kenobi
Madmonk
Wish you had not put that link up for RetroSF, the cloud car looks interesting as well as the Snow Speeder and detail parts for the x-wing and tie fighters. Edit: Russ, kit available here if you win it! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Airfix-Star-Wars-Spe...=item563f7c5f40 Edited September 14, 2010 by Madmonk
Obi-Jiff Kenobi
Wish I hadn't found out that FM are re-issuing the 1/72 Falcon, possibly for the last time. That's £140 I'm not gonna see again! Obi-Jiff

These are scale models, not toys. Do what I do, and use the 1/18 action-figure-scaled ships if you want to dogfight! Thankfully I can get things delivered to work!! That's where my FM Falcon will go, too! Obi-Jiff

FZ6
Was the AMT Tie Fighter that was sold as a pair 1:48? It looked there abouts. I built one of my pair some years ago and it was one of their nicer kits in the Star Wars range and really enjoyable to build.

According to Star Wars Models it's actually 1/51, but that's close enough for many people. Obi-Jiff
Smiffy
Aha, I can finally see this thread. Was the AMT Tie Fighter that was sold as a pair 1:48? It looked there abouts.I built one of my pair some years ago and it was one of their nicer kits in the Star Wars range and really enjoyable to build. The AMT Ties aren't bad, but unfortunately the rear of the cockpit ball had those odd engine bell things moulded into them. Was a pain to fix too. In fact I made a right Horlicks outta one when trying to correct it.
Obi-Jiff Kenobi
I'm leaving the engine things in mine, and painting them the same colour as the rest of that bit. Hopefully no-one'll look round the back anyway! Obi-Jiff
Pilgrim_UK
Â The great thing about those kits was the Death star tiles you got with them.

The AMT/MPC/Ertl kit of the AT-AT includes a couple of snowspeeders, including a crashed one. Fantastic Plastic in the US did a Jawa Sandcrawler in resin, along with a TIE Bomber. Veyr nice, but OOP last time I checked. Some other good stuff comes up on there as well. I have the three Naboo royal ships (the chrome ones) from the same people. Very very easy to do business with. Robert Ury is the man - he also did the series 'Dark Skies' as I recall.
