Tardis Fragment

Recommended Posts

Some of you may have seen that I have started a build thread for a fullsize Dalek and in that thread I mentioned that I had finished my own replica of the fragment of Tardis that the Doctor pulled out of a crack on the universe in the Series 5 episode Cold Blood.

Well here is my attempt at replicating that prop.

Sized from pictures on the www I also went on the Tardis Builders forum and used the information contained on that www to get the letters not only correct in size but also font type.

Construction wise, it cost practically nothing to make. Made from left over bits of wood from decorating once the glue had set it was attacked with a stanley knive and chisel to get that splintered look. I used a sheet of white plastic card to reproduce the obvious white area. Paint was a Hunbrol Blue with areas painted black and then given black wash's.

Letters were fabricated at a local sign writers and took mere seconds to apply.

Thanks very much for the comments chaps. Probably the first model I have finished for a while.

They went down pretty well with mates and I received a few requests to make some additional ones.

I have made four so far. Ive kept my fave one to date which I think is a lil better than the one above.

Just need to get the house move out the way and then I can get back to doing something with the Dalek.

Looks an interesting item Tony.

Wonder what the origins of it are. I think This Planet Earth make 1/2 scale replicas. Looks rather nice though.

I really want one of these for the garden but the Mrs is saying no. She says they scare her on TV and we are not having one at home. Me joking that I would love to come home from work one night and move the thing across the garden and pop it in front of the window for when she woke up hasn't helped my case either.

Martin,

The fragment is brilliant, I daren't show my daughter as I will end trying it myself, though it is her birthday next month and would go down a storm. Out of interest what did you use.

A full size TARDIS would be excellent as a garden shed, can't see that happening in our garden either

I'm sure, many moons ago, that I once saw a TARDIS garden shed that had a hedge grown around part of it, so from the outside it looked like a TARDIS in front of a hedge, but when you went inside it was a full-sized shed.

See Im ok on that scrore. The Mrs has already said I can have a full size Tardis in the garden. Like me he loves the style of them. Thats 2011-2012 project though.

Have a look in the 2011 Dr Who Annual it shows you how to make Amy Ponds Raggedy Doctor Doll. That may be right up her street. Or you could check my other thread out and have a go at making her a fullsize Dalek lol.

Drop me a PM with your email address on and I will email you a better description of how I have made mine inc some pictures to get you started.
