Mike
Afghanistan 2008 - Donkey Rider 1:35 Toro Model In association with This resin figure set comprises an Afghani figure riding upon a mule or donkey. The set is cast in a pale grey resin, with the Rider having separate arms and stick, whilst the donkey as separate ears and tail. Also included in the box is a compliment slip sized sheet showing three angled views of the completed and painted model, and on the reverse a number of small pictures of some typical street scenes from Afghanistan, which include curiously enough a local man riding upon a small mule. The figure is nicely cast, although he would be rather tall if his pose were standing, but his dress is authentic, and facial features stereotypically Afghani. The pour stubs for the Rider are on the bottom of his sandals, and should be easy to remove. His arms have pour stubs built into the attachment surface, so should again be easy to remove. There is no stand provided - that's blutak under the donkey's feet. The donkey is in a walking pose with its head bowed as if the Rider is taxing its back somewhat. A large pour stub protrudes from the back of the donkey which on removal requires a little bit of work to repair the area and remove evidence of bubbles (see tools & tips here). The donkey's ears and tail are delicately moulded, and care should be taken removing them from the casting plug. Conclusion a useful item for the diorama modeller who wishes to portray an Afghanistan street scene or similar, which is nicely moulded with little flash, and only a few bubbles as mentioned earlier.
