Deon Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Hi there, Anyone know what colour primer was used on allied vehicles during ww2. In particular im about to start painting an early Dingo ac. Im assuming under the desert sand, there'll be green and under that some primer? any help gratefully recieved Cheers Deon
bobgpw Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Deon Red oxide primer is probably the safest bet. It really depends on manufacturers - chassis primer would be whatever the manufacturer normally used. For US vehicles red oxide would seem to dominate. Remember that often, British truck manufacturers only built the chassis and cab. The body work was contracted out to other specialists. For example, the AEC Matador artillery body was also fitted to FWD SU COE. As a result, primer colours may vary according to materials used. Bob
Deon Posted August 18, 2010 Author Posted August 18, 2010 Many thanks Bob, red oxide it is then for the Dingo, not that there'll be that much showing, but i do tend to over weather things.
