zero
Okay for anybody that know me well, they will know my forum name come from the love of two different aircraft, Clear not difficult to work out that the first, is the Zero, probablly the best combat fighter at the start of the pacific war. but the second is a love of the fictional aircraft from Thunderbirds, The Zero-X As I found these pictures, whilst sorting endless files on an old drive, thought I would post them up. as someone might be interested Firstly My Imai kit, but not the little one, this one is nearly a Metre long Still boxed, and my most prized kit (as you can see it still in it packing case) and yes I paid a lot for it. Secondly I have a collection of Konami resin Sci-fi models ie models from Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, UFO, Space 1999, Fireball XL-5, Joe 90, Stingray, and I have the full collection of Star trek ships too. couple of examples of these Stingray UFO Interceptor Thunderbird 3 and I bought this to go along side my collection of these . (one day) I will get them all out on display again!!! Ho hum. Thanks for looking Dave

marty_hopkirk
The best Zero X was the AJAM kit, which has recently been discontinued. http://ajamodels.webs.com/apps/webstore/pr...ts/show/1102978 http://ajamodels.webs.com/apps/webstore/pr...ts/show/1102978 I snagged one of the first ones, but it remains unbuilt. Marty... One of our club members, Keith, built that. I recall he had a few problems with it. He used magnets to attach the lifting wings and the MEV so they could be removed for photographic purposes. http://www.keithmcneill.pwp.blueyonder.co....%20x17small.jpg http://www.keithmcneill.pwp.blueyonder.co....x16%20small.jpg http://www.keithmcneill.pwp.blueyonder.co....x12%20small.jpg http://www.keithmcneill.pwp.blueyonder.co....20x10redone.jpg

Does it really matter? as most of us would agree, the kit, is only the starting place of any great model build! Dave (who is more than happy with his Imai as a starting place!) marty_hopkirk
Does it really matter? as most of us would agree, the kit, is only the starting place of any great model build! Dave Yes, if one wants it to look like the filming miniature. The material of the Imai kit is somewhat suspect: A thin resin covering over unexpanded polystyrene, the turned metal is nice. However, I have doubts about it's durability and structural stability when the turned metal is attached to the polystyrene. The ADJAM kit has the option of having the undercarriage deployed which is not an option with the Imai kit and given what it's made out of I doubt it is possible to convert it easily or at all. Some of the engraving and panel lines make those carried out by the Matchbox engraver incredibly delicate. ADJAM kit comes complete with rubber tyres and metal axels and hubs which do make a real difference. Does it matter, I think so - I also think its worth pointing out alternatives. Marty.. If there is a better alternative - surely its worth mentioning? Marty... Oh we have marty, Endlessly on both the ATF and the UAMF. both our views were the same then I'd be interested to know what was in the Imai box, and you might as well know Marty, I'm an Ex-detail and AC fitter, so the Model, I have is to be basically used as a patern. in my retirement I plan to make a very very detailed Zero-X model (probably studio standard) maybe 1 to 1 or maybe 2 to 1 with removable MEV etc. hence why I have both of these, but the Imai kit is idea for my needs (ie to make patterns from) Dave
