GrahamEM
Just started these 1/48 IDS kits from Italeri, going to source bits like chin pod, decals, hindenburg tanks from Airfix GR4/4a kit off ebay. I'll be doing 9 Squadron and 31 Squadron bombers, may change my mind but i will definately be doing one of those two depending on paint availability. No decals for the cockpit so i might try painting from Merv's photo's in the sticky. anybody tried this ? the etched set is expensive @ 36 quid x 2 ! so any ideas are welcome http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v616/mac...oc/gr4seats.jpg
GrahamEM
Yeah you're right the seat straps are yellow and not silver, i thought i'd made a mistake and it would have been too late after insertion, all done !

GrahamEM
You ever done 2 at once before Graham? er no, am i being a bit too ambitious ? can you tell me the dangers of this please i just thought i could as i've got a 2nd typhoon in current build status on hold. thanks Graham. Talking to yourself Graham? Which 9sqn and 31 jets are you planning to build? Tornado GR4's have Hannants decals for these and paint coming(when the posties have got a better pay rise than i can only dream of)

Gary West
er no, am i being a bit too ambitious ? can you tell me the dangers of this please You go for it Graham - no dangers at all, except you'll use twice as much paint and glue, so just make sure you have twice the fun
Mike
You go for it Graham - no dangers at all, except you'll use twice as much paint and glue, so just make sure you have twice the fun You could always do one at a time, one after eachother instead (once you've got the insides ready), as your 2nd one would benefit from what you've learned from building the first one in terms of fit & pitfalls... that sort of stuff. A lot of people build multiples though, and there's nothing inherently wrong with that

I think have a spare set of the 9 squadron anniversary markings though should you need them to help touch up/replace any decals that prove difficult to apply, which you're welcome to have free of charge - always like to see Tornado models (am umming and aahing over one for my next build ). Angels49
A good start from what I can gather; keep it up . I am following this one closely as I am very interested in doing this kit, I have backed off the F-3 idea for the moment (unless an Italeri kit suddenly pops up) . GrahamEM
I noticed that the panel lines aren't very deep at all, i'll have to go easy on the white primer plasikote
GrahamEM
does anybody know what colour around the cockpit where the canopy is ? it just says A, which is the fuselage colour but i doubt if this is right.

The inside of a Tornado pit is a Medium Grey - someone will chuck you the correct colour ref - and I believe that extends to the surface where the canopy meets the fuselage Graham

GrahamEM
Got both cockpits finished and priming wings and main fuselage, been a slow process but i'm not in any hurry because i think it will be a couple more weeks for the Tamiya paint to arrive due to recalling of paint and postal strikes. I know it would look better with a Flightpath resin & etched set, but it would cost a small fortune and i'm probably not experienced enough to do the work to get the best from the set. Gary West
Your last photo looks like a thread from another forum - ex Italian AF (loan) a/c fuselage's laying about some scrap yard. Pits look ok though Graham

GrahamEM
Cheers, i'm happy with them but pro modellers would do a better job. i have seen the flightpath cockpit sets and they do look more authentic but i'm not spending 60+ quid on 2 cockpits. You can add a lot of detail with a knife, glue, styrene sheets and a plastic cup. This is what I've done with said items From Over To And you're already a lot better than me!
