Although you can't tell on '256, it was quite common for otherwise-silver-painted airframes to have unpainted, burnished cowlings and fuel tank covers, as on '331 (and 41 Squadron's "special.")

Also LA228 of 600 Sqn coded RAG-N, photo in SAM Camouflage and Markings No 1, RAF Fighters 1945-50 UK Based, LA249 RAG-M of the same Sqn, photo in Cold War Shield Vol 1, LA267 RAI-M of 602 Sqn, part photo also in Cold War Shield. The latter book also mentions others, but no photos.
