spike7451
http://www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk THE Red Arrows are still grounded as problems with the ejector seats of the aircraft used by the team have still not been resolved. It had been hoped the ban on flying would be lifted in time for displays the RAF Scampton-based team is already committed to. But despite efforts to discover if the team's Hawk T1 jets are affected by the same problem discovered on the same model at RAF Valley, officials at the Ministry of Defence (MoD) have not been able to lift the ban. The Reds were grounded last Tuesday after a routine inspection revealed cracks in the ejector seats. The MoD made the decision to ground any jets which could potentially be suffering the same fault for "safety reasons". An MoD spokesman told the Echo: "The ejector seat with the crack has been returned to the manufacturer to be checked as a matter of urgency. It is too early to say when the jets will be able to fly again."

ExRAF
Whatever the problem was, at least the one used by Flt Lt Ling earlier this year during the Reds overseas work-up seemed to work just fine.
