This looks nice! An A380 with Sidewinders, great whiff!

Thanks Al

Latest update then folks, Ive started to apply decals on the port side, Ive done the windows on the top deck, tail markings and Ive stuck a VC10 "BP" sign under the pilots window  Also, the paint is getting there on the H&D pods, USAF probe is now done and the new refuelling probe is getting there.

Im not sure about the pods yet, I may repaint them grey, what do you guys think?

Thanks for looking.

Hi Bexy =)

for those close photos I can give you a tip: Go a bit off the Jet with your camera and then zoom.

It's better to step one meter back of the plane and then to (optical!) zoom instead of to hold the camera just a few inch off the model.

I made this photo in ~1m distance and used the optical zoom of my cam.

Unless all you have is a camera on your phone, in which case they still come out rubbish......

yes. That's right ... but that's the reason why I don't use those mobile phone cameras for my models.

4 years ago I've made these photos by a Samsung SGH700 mobile phone:

just crappy :(

btw ... I sold my complete model railway in 2008 ... too expensive :(

EDIT: Sorry, Bexy, for being OT :)

what a fascinating project.

I have no A380's.....

1) Its too expensive

2) I dont know anything about it, what its like inside etc (for detailing purposes)

2) Its ugly

however.......its probably time I did something about getting a couple....

would make an interesting detailing project :)

nice work bex - cant wait to see it finished

TC, youre quite right, but I have to be honest, although Ive been planning this for so long, I wasnt sure how she'd turn out, however, its slowly looking the part I reckon.

Kevin, yup, shes one URGLY Big Bird, but, I have to be honest, she does grow on you, Im a die hard 707 & 747 lover, but, although this thing wont end up on my number one spot, Ive grown used to it now  Have a chat with ChancerUK about it, he should be able to point you in the right direction for refs & advice etc, just tell him I sent ya :wicked:

Micha, its no problem at all, I also like trains so I liked your photos  I use an ancient idiot proof point & shoot digicam

Ok then next batch of photos, Ive done the decals on the port side, just got the windows & doors starboard side to do now :yikes: Revell have done well with the decals, they go on nicely, and are easy to adjust if you make a mistake :yahoo:

no, they have not done well. Or you've got a different decal sheet than me. The Lufthansa decals are absolutely crappy. I already destroyed a complete window row and one window of the 2nd row. Actually, I wanted to have the black windows on my A380 but now I got to put the transparent on it. And that looks totally crappy.

That's why I hate Revell so much for there decal crap! My own are much easier to use but I can't make my own windows decals anymore :(

I'll try to call Revell tomorrow (again!) and to ask them for a new decal sheet. But this, what I've got, is absolutely useless

Micha,

Im wondering if you have a cr@p decal sheet too, as the one Im using is no problem at all, other than being awkward with the length of some of the stencils, although I have to be honest, Im glad Im not using the Emirates logos etc as they looked a real nightmare :yikes:

hi again, Bexy!

I solved the problem ... I took the long black window rows and cut them to short parts of 3 or 4 windows. Then I've put a few transparent windows among the black. So it looks like if some of the windows are closed because of the white background. I managed ten "closed" windows on the upper floor so far and could rescue a complete destroyed window like. Picture follows.

Thank God I never give up the hardest jobs!

I was born in the GDR ... this made me hard and cool :D;)

btw ... I like that sentence of the East German Michael in the movie "Sonnenallee" (Sun Alley) who said "I'm living in the GDR. I don't have any other problems." lachen.gif

Micha, yet another good save my friend :worthy:

Latest update after a day & evenings work on the Old Girl, walkway markings on the wings & elevators done, remaining doors & windows added, so just a few 380 specific stencils left to add on the engines and cargo doors, I also had a brainwave, how to hide an awful seem joint........ slap on a nice central guide line down the fuselage :yahoo: Ive also added the USAF refuelling probe, H&D pods and rotordome will be fitted tomorrow once the stencils are finished

Thanks for looking :thumbsup2:

Enjoying....

I would sooo like to see this one happen for real....

Liking the BP logo too!

Al

I'd love to see inside this one for real. You can just imagine, rows of seats in the lower forward area, fuel tanks in the rear, AWACs consoles upstairs. Amazing!

Thanks Al, funnily enough, it was an April Fools photo on the Luftwaffe 321 Tigers Tornado website a couple of years ago that gave me the basic concept of this, and as for the BP logo, it was on the VC10 sheet Im using, and couldnt resist it

Devilfish, my original plan was to use the Cutaway kit that Revell produced and go totally bonkers on the inside, but at the time, this one only cost £9.99 where as the cutaway was £20 which was out of my budget

Thannks for the kind comments Gang, more to come later :yahoo:
