In the past they've changed the names of American aircraft used in the RN/FAA, so it's not inconceivable they could do it again? Wonder what it would be? They tried it for a bit and then gave up because of the confusion it caused. Nothing adopted by the Fleet Air Arm has had a different name since the Tarpon. And, as the FAA has already used a Hornet, it won't have any problems using a Hornet again (and we don't need "II" to help us tell 'em apart).
