Battle of Britain Group Build. RULES

Recommended Posts

RULES:

1. The timeframe for eligible subjects are 10th July 1940 to 31st October inclusive.

The dates are taken from the RAF MoD BoB website

Whilst different sources will sometimes differ from each other, a definitive set of dates from the RAF's own webpage has been selected to avoid any possible problems.

2. The onus of eligibility is with the member. The particular subject must have participated in the Battle of Britain within the timeframe above. Please note that the type of aircraft, eg Spitfire Mk1 is insufficient. The particular airframe must be in the markings worn during the Battle.

3. Entries are to be preceded in the threads with the usual sprue shots etc, AND a brief summary of the aircraft's participation of the battle.

This should include dates, base, unit and if possible pilot and notable events.

4. Entries that are also to be built as part of other current group builds, either on Britmodeller or other forums is permissible.

5. Builds that are already started must not be more than 25% completed.

Please post pictures

6. In the case of any dispute GB Moderator Decision will be final!

We hope to be inclusive and fair to ALL participants in the GB and hope for a smooth hassle free GB.

Hi peeps.

Just wanted to check if I would be okay with entering this one?.

I started her last week, wings are glued together and I've added some etched bits and wiring to the pit.

No painting has been started yet.

I'd say that was less than 25% completed. What markings are you planning?

Rather than sully my Heinkel thread with digression, I'd like to quickly check that this is ok as another entry for the GB.

I want tp build Airfix's new Bf-110C with the kit markings. The box art is fantastic I think you'll agree.

Box shot:

Now the instructions say the aircraft from the box art (M8+EP) is from 6 Staffel, I/ZG 76, based in Northern France in 1940 which is a touch vague.

From what I can make out, 6 Staffel was part of II Gruppe/ ZG76 and was based at Abbeville, France from June till September 1940 (it also used Le Mans as forward base). I can't pinpoint whether this specific aircraft fought during the time period set out for this group build, but it seems highly likely.

If not, I can try a small modification of the kit decals, and turn M8+EP into M8+IP that was flown by Leutenant Hans-Joachim Jabs who had nine kills to his name by 15th August 1940. This would put it right in the time frame with less ambiguity.

So, can I play? pretty please!

The Matchbox kit has a decal option for M8+EP. Here's the details:

Bf-110C-3, M8-EP, 6/ZG76 'Haifisch', Luftwaffe, Le Mans, France, September 1940.

I think you're safe to build M8+EP.

I just bought this...

Kitreview...

http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/21c...21c_22105.shtml

If I have enough time left ,I might enter it in this GB.

It has markings for StG51,Norret-Fontes France,Aug 1940. So the markings look OK to me.

good spot on the decals, i have that one too now if i motorised that aswell flying over a airfield with the hurricane taking off in persuit.... :hmmm:

Hi

All the BoB Builds have got me thinking and I would like to ask the moderators if I can join the GB with this stalled build?

P8170226.jpg

Once I know I will choose the markings and give all the information required

Thanks in advance

Tim.

Is there a time limit on joining this groupbuild? I don't want to join in unless I can be sure I can finish the build in the allotted time. I can make a decision during the second week of September.

I would provisionally like to build two models in parallel, but one will duplicate a build that is already in progress in the GB. Will that be a problem?
