eng
Has anyone any experiences of AZ Models Spitfire and/or Hurricane kits? From what I've read in the mag reviews etc they seem quite good, but it's always nice to hear what they're like to build 1st hand. I believe they have a fair range of the Spits out and a few more pending as future releases. They seem a bit pricy at £17-18 are they value for money? Thank's for any info, Eng
Greenshirt
I'm going to start one of each this weekend for a BoB theme build at our local club. My initial impressions of the sprues and extras is they are worth the value. They WILL require modeling skills as they are not Tamiya but the detail is recessed and very fine. I'm looking forward to them. Tim
Chuck1945
I am about finished building the AZ Spitfire II, panel line engraving is quite fine, some effort was made on providing cockpit details, the overall shape is quite good, assembly requires modeling skills, definitely not Tamiya-like, but much better then the 1rst and 2nd generation limited run stuff too. The Hurricane is the early fabric wing version, it is the Sword kit from 10 years or so back, with the mismatched fuselage halves fixed. I dont have the Airfix Spitfire I at hand to compare, but I think that has just been re-released. Assuming its shape is good, it probably would be a less expensive route to early Spitfires. Test Graham
I would just add that as long as you avoid, or get around somehow, getting the resin undercarriage bay into place, then the AZ Hurricane is recommended. I don't have the AZ Spitfire: I'm awaiting the new Airfix release.
The wooksta V2.0
I've a fair few of the AZ Spits and they look quite nice. The F.XIV and FRXVIII look excellent, if confusing as the same sprue is in both boxes...
