Started this about 3 weeks ago now, sourcing paint was a bit of a problem

The jet engine that sits inside of the fuselage, i didn't know kits came like this, there's a non fixed cover that goes on top

Masking off white bottom half already sprayed

Managed to get the paint the right colour this time 1 part X-3, 3 parts XF-24 for dark sea grey

Sidewinders need some touching up but i sprayed them white

Is it best to peel off the tape when the paint is dry or when it is still wet ?

i just hope i don't peel away the edges when the two colours of the main fuselage meet.

Your a braver man that I Graham - both for attempting that kit and then for painting before you assemble!

:yikes: you got me worried now, is there something i should know, lol

the reason i sprayed in two halves was the silver rotor disk that goes at the back of the big side air intakes, i had no way of masking after assembly really Gary.

I dont' want to worry you or anything Graham, but there's a man sat in the kit seat :o

I hope ya dont' regret painting it before you glue the fuselage halves together... it could get reet messy when you fill/sand the seams :S Of course, it's all part of the learning process, but in general, most modellers paint the main parts after assembly. There are the occasional exceptions, but in general that's how it's done.

Keep up the good work, cos if your last kit was anything to go by, you'll keep improving in leaps & bounds ;)

Bits of foam... spraying the intakes the proper color before installing the engine is wise, and then you pack the area with some spongy foam... That way, your precious silvery bits stay silver, and you won't need to touch up the intake trunking where the foam was. :)

Or tissue, i sometimes wet it and let it dry.
