NinjabreadMan Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Quick question, I have the Alanger German Tank Crew (1939-1941) set in the stash and want to find them something to 'crew' Would they fit in with a 222 or similar during the invasion of Poland/France/ Early Barbarossa? I know that tankers during the early biltzkrieg wore the panzer beret, and that a Panzer 1/2/3/38t are all safe bets, but I do like the look of those armoured cars, and saves all the hassle of link and length, track sag and all the rest Thanks all! -Max
Guest snipersmudge Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Hi Max yep during that period the crews of the 222 and the larger vehicles would have worn berets Pete
NinjabreadMan Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 Cheers Pete, Thats great... though I might save it for the Biltzkrieg 39-40 Group Build later this year
alanmac Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Hi Max The only thing that changed greatly in the basic Panzer black uniform during WW2, as modelled by these figures, was that piece of headgear. As Pete has already said you'll be fine with the berets for what you were thinking of but if you decide to use them in a time later in the conflict you can always just change the heads and you'd be fine with the rest of the uniform. As you probably know Hornet do a great line in replacement heads and you could choose one wearing a forage cap or the later peaked style, model 43 I think they were called after their year of introduction if I remember correctly. You can even get ones wearing the beret if the Alanger/ICM ones are not up to scratch. Alan
Andrew Jones Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I think the armoured car crews would only wear the black berets if they belonged to a panzer division, if attached to any other formation I wouldn't be quite so sure.
