llking Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) I've been a member for a couple of years now and have never posted any of my builds until now. This is my latest build, the old Monogram P-61 built OOB except for the decals which are from Eagle Strike, painted with LifeColor paints. Thanks for looking. Edited May 21, 2010 by llking
Simon G Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Nice looking model, like the tone variations in the colours. Si.
keith in the uk Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Wow that looks great , dont often see the P61 , Nice build and great weathering , Top job.
IanC Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Hi Excellent build. You seem to have got the transparencies to fit very well. They were one of the reasons I ended up chucking mine against the workshop wall... Ian
Guest snipersmudge Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 great paint work and the glazing looks very nice
woody37 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Superb. built one in black years ago, really like it in the olive drab scheme.
Metallicus Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) have not seen one of these done before, she looks awesome. Edited May 21, 2010 by Metallicus

ChancerUK Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Great looking Black Widow, like the finish. Please post more of your work.
tinleeds Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Yes, really nice model. I'm thinking now to buy this model. What you can say about this kit? And do you have more pictures from building process?
Enzo the Magnificent Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 It's bringing back memories. I built this kit over thirty years ago. After seeing your excellent model, I think I want to build it again!
robw_uk Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 It's bringing back memories. I built this kit over thirty years ago. After seeing your excellent model, I think I want to build it again! me too (well maybe 20 years ago - my last kit before suspending modellng)... mine was done all black. Think it is still at my parents house, was tempted to bring it home and rebuild it but dont have storage room... think I would like to try a 1/72 version.....
Enzo the Magnificent Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Yes, really nice model. I'm thinking now to buy this model. What you can say about this kit? The interior is very finely detailed, as were all Monogram kits from that period. The panel lines are fine, raised lines - again standard for Monogram at the time. The big problem with the kit is that the transparancies are total pants! They just don't fit. They need an awful lot of work to get them looking good - work which llking has done to great effect. However, if you are willing to splash the cash a little, there is always this.
spitfire Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 That's a really nice build of one of the few aircraft that I have started and never finished, so I can appreciate the work that has gone into it. Cheers Den
wkennerley Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Wow so they don't need to be black to look good!! Nice paint job Wayne
Icarus Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) Excellent work on a classic model. I note the Tamiya P-51B boxing poking its head out from one of the photos - any progress on this? Icarus Edited January 17, 2011 by Icarus
