White Inkjet Printed Decals

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I have posted on this section before,i have a white inkjet printer that prints on to clear decal.Have a look at my section Parkes682Decals

Paul

This is very interesting. I've had a look through the thread on your section and, unless I've missed it, there seem to be two quite important unanswered questions:

1. Exactly what model types of Epson Printer is required?

2. Where do we get hold of the white ink cartridges?

I always seem to find I'm having to print light and white decals onto dark models, so it might be worth the investment.

As far as I'm aware the only printer that could pring white, was the Alps Range (which was why it was used by railway modellers for years) as far as I'm aware these are no longer available.

hope this helps.

Hi Julian

I have developed this for my own needs and spent about 3 years in research and development.

About a year ago i found a company that was developing a white ink made from two water based chemicals that made ink white.

It also had to be able to go through a Epson Print Head without blocking the heads

Until recently,i cannot tell you because of legal reasons of patenting process and registering of the ink and copyrighting by the company involved

the Epson printer is a A4 printer. The probelm is the cartridges for these are not avaiable at the moment as they have to brand new clean cartridges. Also the ink is not avaiable only 1 litre of this ink has been made.I had to buy 500 ml from the company for trials which have proved succesful on the Epson printer. The ink will not be for sale for 2 years while the legal side is sorted out.

I can print white decals for any one that wants these, but i will have to see what is required and give you some idea of cost to make.

They are printed on to clear decal.

Hope this helps

Hi Dave

Yes,you are right Alps where the only printer that can white, but i can also print white on my New Epson printer as per details on this thread

I ve had a lot of emails, some people think its a April fools joke it is not.It works as some of the members of Britmodeller came and saw at Cosford show recently.

Paul, any update on the topic? Can we expect white ink cartridge any time soon?

Hi

We are still talks with the MOD due to its application by the military this is a sticking point, they want to keep this coating classified as they call it.

We call it an ink, just for White inkjet printers

Go figure classified ink

Hi

Its a water based coating (base coat) its used in a military application, two water based chemicals hit one another and they turn Brilliant White.

It then can be used in a Epson SX115 Printer with 4 white cartridges

They call it a coating,i call it an ink.
