Don't get hooked on Vipers, there's a lot more of them in the world than Hawks!

I think that little pod is used for making the radar signature much bigger? I have seen them before on various Hawks, always carried below the fuselage in the pics I have seen. I am not 100% but I think that is it's purpose in life :)

Called a Luneberg lens, it increases the parent aircrafts radar signature, we FRADU used to use them when flying against the Sea Harriers, Hawk has a very small radar sig head on.only used for training, the bigger radar sig also simulates that of a much bigger aircraft. these pods are no longer used.

lots of stunning hawks in this thread, & they all look great.

The ETPS Hawk looks the biz.

You might be mad Mark but its our Kind of Mad.

I onlt have about 70 Sabres so still a ways to catch you on Hawks!

Julien

ok ive not updated for a while

only 2 more to add

Adu Dhabi was the first export customer for the Hawk 100 series, these aircraft being delivered to the Khalif Bin Zayed Air College

this was made from the 1/48 Airfix Hawk 100 kit, decals form MA hawks in world wide service sheet and stencils form the spares box, this is OOB apart from extra wing fences for plasticard

Mark, I reckon we should have a Hawk SIG (if there's not one already)

Count me in.

My interest in the Hawk started in 1980 when we had 3 Hawks for our passing out parade flypast at Swinderby. I then did my trade training, (Mechanic Armourer) then posted to Brawdy 1 TWU (Flight line weapons), more training, (Technician Armourer) then Valley, 4 FTS (seat fit/remove/servicing). Then Scampton, Red Arrows (seat servicing)
