Nice builds Mark, one thing worth noting about Grey/Green camouflaged Hawks, I seem to recall that the demarkation lines, on the wings anyway, tended to aligh with panel or flap lines. This was to enable cross-fitting of panels to different airframes. May be worth digging some colour pic's out....

bill i went from a photo and the MA pofile guide all the camo scheems were similar but not quite the same

Hi Mark

Great models and I've always had a soft spot for the Hawk in the green and grey wrap round camo though I do have one question, did the RAF fit the 2inch rocket pods ?, I'm just wondering as I may do the same with the Revell 1/32 version when it comes out.

All the best

Steve

Thanks for the clarification Mark, so I can pinch them off a 1/32 Hunter kit then instead of trying to make them from scratch.

All the best

Mark, just been "browsing" Airliners.net, and there's a few Hawk photos from Shawbury that could be of interest, if you're looking to do something slightly different with one or two of your Hawk collection...

I have photos of this a/c at Akrotiri...

depends which kit you make, the airfix 1/72 / 1/48 kits have a recessed pannel on the cannopy so can be painted SEE HERE

the italeri 1/48 kit doesnt have anything, i cant remember the others off the top of my head, hope that helps

I think Mark has made the same mistake as I did and used the RN type 2" pod from the Airfix Harrier GR3 (which was most likely the ONLY RAF aircraft to use this in 1982!).

In 1/48th there were RAF SNEB/Matra(?) pods available in Airfix's Canberra B(I)8, though these weren't that great! Flightpath do superb resin pods though.

I'd hope that Revell's Hawk has a pair of pods in it - though as I believe the first issue will be for the Red Arrows I think that unlikely! Still I expect aftermarket examples to follow in 1/32nd!

yep bills right i couldnt get the right ones easy enough for this build so mike kindly donated me some harrier ones, im led to believe by the revell sales man i know that the second ed of the 32, kit will cover finish airframes and raf camo / black hawks decals to match and there will be a extra sprue with fule tanks and weapons, not sure which but if i find out i will let you know

Mark, UHU little devil !! do you get anything for product placemate ? Seriously though, as has been said you can never have too many Hawks. I cannot wait for the Revell 1/32 hope they do it justice. Keep 'em coming Mark.
